Slipstream Brewing - West Coast Tour IPA - Oregon

  • Massive pine aroma that lasted the whole glass.
  • Highish bitterness
  • Very flavourful: Malt, pine and earthy
  • Nicely balanced.  Sometimes these beers can be too sweet or too bitter, making them a sipping experience.  In this case you can chug it pretty easily.  Just a bit dangerous for a 6.6% ABV brew.

Certainly looks and sounds the goods

This evenings tasting is a style I definitely want to get brewing one day, Daintons Blood Orange Neipa. Pale and hazy like a good Neipa, nice smooth mouth feel, very citrusy/tropical fruity, a bit of blood orange but I wouldn’t say it’s front and center of the flavour. The aroma is definitely a great mix of el dorado, citra and mosaic (not sure what the hallertau tastes or smells like tbh.)

Beautiful to drink! Would love to get into home brewing Neipas at some stage.

Shamus, you haven't rated it out of 10, but I must admit your description & looking at it, it must be a nice beer.

Definitely a beauty.  I score it 9/10.  I got it in a special deal of 4 random cans near, at, or just over their best before date.  It's BB was yesterday.  Imagine what it was like fresh.

End the snapper ban and I'll join you blokes for a Hoppy crafty!

The pro's are talking about handing their Snapper license in if it will enable amateur fisherman to be allowed to fish for Snapper again, but I also heard they may introduce the fishing license here in S.A if that happens, who knows...

Last cuppla pints of Guinness, and a Bush chaser. Cheap as chips as far as I’m concerned. The head on the Guinness os very white…I have a soft spot for my own efforts, but that probably has something to do with the fact that it’s 5.5% rather than 4.2 😆

Last pint at the airport. Not as expensive as I expected - 6.20€ rather than the cheapest at 4.80€
Quite drinkable too

Is that $9.25 AUS?

A few mates & I usually catch up at this once iconic Irish Pub in the city which has been taken over by a Chinese restaurant but the retained the corner front bar https://www.facebook.com/brecknockbar/

I am pretty sure the last time I was there an Imperial Pint of Guinness - 570ml was about $15.00 but has probably gone up by now.

Here's some trivia for you.

One stone, two birds:

I'd been wanting to drop into Tallboy & Moose micro brewery, I haven't been since pre-pandemic days

IMG_20230419_184324787.thumb.jpg.bc6baabda953a1f79e87fd3f0cd29e12.jpg

then I learned that Merri Mashers home brewers club were holding their next meeting there.

Suits me.

I can't remember the name of this one, it's a pale ale brewed with a Kviek yeast. I've heard a lot about that so I thought I'd give it a try.

Not bad, quite nice.

The, ah, MC of the meeting recommended the Belgian Blonde so I tried that next.

I'm not saying there was anything wrong with it but it was a bit boring, TBH. I should have trusted my instincts and ordered the red IPA.

However, I did also try some of the home brews. They weren't boring at all. In fact, I remarked that the pickle beer was very interesting.

All in all it was a worthwhile expedition.

I went out for another AG kit this morning ELIPSE XPA & then to Coopers Alehouse for a couple & then back home for a few more & lunch.

I took the neighbour for a drive & we ended up at the Watermark Front Bar as Friday the lunch menu is $15.00 & a free pint.

Not a bad deal, we had the pizza & the $6.00 pints special.
