Shamus O'Sean
Promising Ale Smashing aroma, like over-ripe fruit. Great bitterness Very drinkable
Shamus O'Sean
Mexican Stout Basically a Mexican Cerveza can with typical dry stout grains mini-mash. Roasted dark chocolate aroma Mild flavour Easy drinking Smoky aftertaste Tasted lighter than what I was aiming for. Tastes okay for what it is. Certainly does not taste bad.
Shamus O'Sean
Island Toasted Coconut Porter This is easily in my top ten brews. Head dissipates with time, but retains froth around the edge of the glass. Lovely deep ruby colour. Rum ball aroma - Rum, coconut, chocolate, biscuit. Cherry Ripe flavour or like a Bounty, but coated with dark chocolate. More of a sipping beer than the Mexican Stout. Horses for courses. Cheers, Lusty.
Shamus O'Sean
1 minute ago, Beerlust said: Selecting something other than the Mexican Cerveza as your starting point next time will improve this brew by a factor of 10. Hi Lusty, I am drinking another right now. As per the notes it is not my best brew. But miles from my worst. At the time I was contemplating using the Cerveza can (it was already in my inventory), I had not done a stout for a while and there were none on the horizon, Coopers recipe-wise. I also had a few hoppy pales and lagers in bottles. So decided on something a bit different. Could I brew a stout using the Mexican Cerveza can, after all it is probably mostly pale malt. Hence my reason for going that way. Normally I would start with a stout/dark/porter can. Nek minet, along comes the Belgian Chocolate Stout. Plus all my thoughts about the Mexican Stout reminded me that I wanted to do the Island Toasted Coconut Porter for ages. Then the Laneway Latte Stout comes out this month. What a plethora of deep dark brews. I sort of now wish I had done something more traditional with the Cerveza can. Instead I am going to have dark brews coming out my ears for the foreseeable future. 1

A nice blend of Nelson and Kohatu hops really lends a strong passionfruit vibe to this beer. As it happens I particularly like passionfruit so that's a welcome bonus! It seems this beer is now obsolete. As of midnight last night NZ was declared Covid-free so I guess that makes the brew a contender as a new entry into BJCP 27 "Historical Beer". The Captain!!
English Special Rye Bitter As @ChristinaS1 said to me. Tastes nothing like an ESB. But bloody hell this is nice. Might need to add some sweetness or use a esb yeast to make it finish earlier. This finished around 1.007. It’s so dry and delicious

The 1318 works terrifically well in my Mosaic Amber Ale recipe. Cheers, Lusty.

I'd probably pick a yeast that ends dry in this case rather than use fermentability to dry it out. Maybe the Wyeast 1098 British Ale is more what you're looking for? Even the 1028. I had a friend of a friend who used this yeast extensively in his brewing. I tasted quite a few of his beers over different styles & he claimed this yeast was used in each of them. All were very well made & very tasty. Lusty. Edited June 12, 2020 by Beerlust

So this is the recipe from Mike Tasty McDole with the 21st Amendment. Tasty IPA. It’s a 70ibu 6.8% fruit bomb. There is a total of 201g on the hot side. I am never making this palate wrecker ever again.

Titan
APA. I reported this as being dry when tasting a sample for fg. It is dry but galaxy bittering and azzaca ekuanot hopstand hops have really made this beer stand out.
