What's in your BBQ 2019?

After 25+ years my Weber Genesis has finally got to be retired. Replaced the grills twice, but still the original cast iron plate in there, sanded and seasoned to make it non stick slick. Major reno meant moving it, and while it still trucked on without the auto ignition, the brickies tried to move it again and as I suspected, the only thing holding the frame together was rust.

Feel pretty sad, this thing has been awesome. A bit pricey for a BBQ even back then, but it would be an understatement to say I've had my money's worth. Incoming will be a Weber Q.

You won't regret getting a Weber Q, Lab. I got a brand new Family Q via Ebay a couple of years ago for about $650 from the Weber distributor in SA. They were retailing for well over $800/$900 at the time. I asked them why it was cheaper and they said it was a superseded model. Virtually the same as the current model but a few cosmetic changes.
Just spotted this one (below) for $729 delivered. They are expensive compared to many other BBQs but excellent quality and that distinct flavour they achieve is worth the spend IMO.
The real killer of these things is the price of accessories. I've compromised and sourced non-genuine pizza stones and a roasting trivet. Still haven't got a half hot plate yet because they're usually around $90. I could probably just buy a small piece of cast iron plate and just place it on top the Weber grill plate.

+1 on the Weber Q. Got ours about 4 yrs ago. Good quality, cooks brilliantly, easy to clean and uses stuff all gas. Tonights cook up.

Kids were away and me missus grabbed this tomahawk steak from woolies $24 kg. They have a butcher in shop in the store. It was bloody good.

Smoked some shrooms with Parmesan and home made ham.

In the smoker low and slow @200f till she hit 130f internal, then seared on my charcoal chimney., gives a great bark/crust to the steak.
