One fridge not really doing much, what that fridge needs is a fermenter in it...

Looks like this weekend is a good time to knock up another No Rules Pale 😄

I might use the S-04 I have in the fridge for this one, all 3 FVs will be in action though 😄

i think i probably will end up doing that. Dont plan on brewing after this one as i will have nearly 90 PET bottles to get through, before i think about brewing again

You're in the prime spot to save for kegging. 😁

Cheers,

Lusty.

you guys are a bad influence...

Cant afford to keg...and while i do like the idea of cold beer whenever i want it...i dont think the missus would be too keen on it hahaha.

Most of us keggers started out with that mindset. 😜

Dare to dream RepSpec,...dare to dream! 😁

Cheers,

Lusty.

Hopefully a double brew day today.

Doing another Nevermind, The Buzzcocks which is my take on the Punk IPA.

Second one, I’m not sure yet. Probably a more cleaner, less hoppy pale.

We finally got some sensible brewing weather in Adelaide for the week, Capt. Not to mention what a relief it is to this middle aged, heat intolerant lardarse.

Nice easy brew night here tonight, enjoying this cooler Adelaide weather while it lasts.

37g Saaz hop tea 500mls

Pitched at 18°C and will hold for 12 hours then straight crash to 10°C

Forgot to take the S.G but I presume it would be around 1.045 or so hopefully.

It's probably in last year's brew day thread mate, but I'm planning another one for my next brew day. Just gotta get some more Saaz.

What??? The 5000 pounds of Saaz you had in storage finally ran out??... So if commercial breweries are quick they can get hold of some? 🤣

...oh that's right, you used a fair whack of it on one brew coz the alpha was soo low. 3% or something wasn't it?! LOL 😜

Just kidding around (except for the 3%AA comment). 😁

Cheers & good brewing,

Lusty.

FebFast continues but that doesn't mean the brewery action slows down 😉

Did a bastard Downhill White IPA today. Bastard in that I didn't order the ROTM pack and couldn't find any Pacific Jade hops online.

Then went to brew today and my inventory tracking of Amarillo failed me. Being a Sunday, it was improv time.

After some googling on hop substitutes I mixed together some Magnum / Saaz / Cascade @ 10min and Cascade / Centennial for flameout. Don't know how close to the original recipe this will taste but I know it will get me beer. 🍺

Will be interesting beer - I've not done a wheat extract before and never used K97 yeast.

Time is my main deterrent for moving to all grain for the moment. A 4hr brew time on a robo is promising. I've always thought it was on average closer to 6. Good to hear you've got it down to there. I would be going the urn biab option tho which is less automated.

If it’s taking 6 hours then you have to be doing a 2 hour mash and 2 hour boil or something. A standard 60 min mash and 60min boil and no chill should take no longer than 3.5 to 4 hours.

30 mins to get water up to mash temps.

60 mins mash

30 mins to get it up to the boil

60 min boil

30 min or so steep

30 min clean up

4 hours all up. If your not steeping even less.
