the classics

Haha @Brauhaus Fritz nice work absolutely BF the old TO is a NSW standard and has been for many years -  and am glad as a Real Beer Drinker you like it mate good stuff

@kmar92 KMar you would be well placed to advise mate ?  Tooheys Old? Has been with us for a while?

Well at least as far as I know meself the last 40 years the old TO been a pretty reliable drop... funny when I was a XXXX drinker in the early days when XXXX was 4.8-4.9 and actually had barley malt and hops in it -- TO was an amazing and good new addition...  when I grew up we only had XXXX pubs or Carlton Pubs and Carlton Draught was a bit meh ?....

Carlton draught probably was just fine back then haha but they didn't sponsor the Footy Club... but anyway...  yeah I used to like the TO when I came across it from the deep South : )  was a bit different for us back then...  had to go over the Border to go and buy it haha! Woooooo that's a bit different...

Funny - so after the XXXX herkunft upbringing - I really don't mind VB (and I know some of our good folk here don't like it -- but I had a really good mate we shared the brew  - overseas - he used to bring cartons over in his suitcase - sadly who died of Mesothelioma Asbestos Lung Disease back in aussie -- way too young).   In the past I also quite liked Fosters n Melbourne Bitter and Crownies too... whether they are the same as years ago who knows.....  think more recent Crownies are not too bad for a refreshing quick cleansing draught haha 😜

But at the end of the day - it's either IP Mountain Brewing's Premium Regenwasser Produkt -- OR -- Einbecker Urbock -- or the real nectar:

Here's the just delectable sorta herby but just joyful crash-bang-wallop-be-careful 🏴‍☠️

I am a sucker for a bargain, I found these at BWS on sale for $16.00 normally $22.00, not a bad drop I might add, nice & clean, citrus notes a bit like a party in the mouth, I would buy this again. This is what I prefer a 6 pack with full measure, 375ml, 4.2% ABV.

QUOTE:

Made with locally grown wheat, this beer isn’t just a riff on a classic; this is Aussie Wheat Beer.  In the can you'll find a slightly hazy brew, with notes of mandarin and pear and a crisp finish that's immensely refreshing.

The background suggests you might be staying at the caravan park across the road from BVB, Hilltop. Not a bad spot and just a short stagger home. Haven't tried this particular beer but they make some pretty good ones.

Yep the caravan park is great. They make nice beers, service could be better they were under staffed and struggling.

SHEPHERD NEAME - KENTISH STRONG ALE 6.5% ABV

I picked up a few of these today just for something different, I have seen @stquinto knocking them back all over the globe & often wondered what it was like.

I don't mind it at all, it sort of grows on you. Nice colour & hoppy flavours.

Definitely nice for a change, I was reading up on their website & they have over 300 Pubs in England.

The ale matures naturally in the bottle and can be enjoyed fresh or allowed to settle for a few months to mellow. The natural effervescence produced by bottle-conditioning – the interaction of yeast and brewing sugars – gives 1698 fine, Champagne-like bubbles that further enhance the fragrance, flavour and overall drinking experience.

A silver medal winner in the Taste of Britain Awards, 1698 has been included in the International Beer Challenge's World's Top 50 Beers and has won a Gold Award from the British Bottlers' Institute.

H'mmmm been a naughty boy Stquinta, or maybe Doctor's orders ? 👨‍⚕️

Ha ha Phil! Just seeing how long I can do …

Done a week so far, was aiming for a month but I forgot I’ve got an overnight boozy-do at a wine harvest festival in Neuchâtel next weekend. There the whole of the Old Town turns into a massive bar. Me and my mates normally put the back seats down of our cars and sleep in the Hotel Subaru, but this year I went a bit posho and booked a hotel. I’ll have to have a few the night before to get match fit or else I’ll be t!ts up after a sniff of the barmaid’s apron.

Then another two weeks off,  and see how hardy my liver is after a blood test 🤪

By that time some of the brews I’ve made will be beautifully matured, so every cloud has a silver lining, eh?

I see, I haven't got around to taking a few days off it for a long time but I have no messages from any body part telling me I have to 😉

So, for now I will just drink responsibly as I always have 🤣

After 35 years in Sydney and driving past it hundreds of times I finally had lunch at the Concordia Club (German Club) in Tempe with a group of friends. Unfortunately the food was pretty poor (bad canteen food), but the company of friends made it a great afternoon. And the selection of beer, in bottles and on tap was simply sensational. Too busy socialising I didn’t take any photos so here are some from the net. And all beers where on tap

I finally had lunch

Sad to hear that the Tucker was poor @Brauhaus Fritz BF - glad to hear the Beers were great and you all had a good time - good one - I can definitely recommend the German Club at the Gabba in Brisbane where the food -- and the beer -- is both very very nice : )

And cool mate that you finally went in for a few after all these years : )

The beer prices seem pretty steep when you make your own...  but you don't do it every day... and Beer prices are cheaper than say the commercial Bavarian Bier Cafe type prices... and it keeps the Club going and pays for the good staff so there yer go...   Prosit die Herrschaften 🥳

Gold @Brauhaus Fritz BF - great idea and way to go... the Gabba GC is a bit harder to get to but if you master the Bus network in Bris I think it is doable...  guess it depends where you are embarking from too hey...

But check out this Schweinshaxe... was amazingly good... crispy crackling and meat so tender wow....

I did have to pay $2 for extra Gravy which I thought a bit unnecessary but it was sooo taschty it was well worth it haha!
