Next cab off the rank is High Flying Sabro American Ale, a FWK by the boys at Beermonster Brewing. A west coast American pale ale with sabro and falconer's Filght hops. Clearer than mine, after 3+ months in the bottle it's still very tasty.

Next on the list is AG #4, a S&W style pacific ale. 50% maris otter, 25% wheat and 25% coopers pale malt with ella and galaxy. A little darker than S&W, but nice creamy head. Not a very strong galaxy taste, note to self, use more than 25g next time.

A nice homemade COPA at the end of today’s brewing session. Three weeks old and very enjoyable. Next time I’ll use a different hops to dry hop. When I got my heat belt from Kegland I threw in some Zappa hops. (Altogether including postage it was still cheaper than buying a belt locally).   Did anyone use them before?

A sneak peek of Calafati, my Vienna Lager. It’s named after the mascot of the Wurstel Prater, an amusement park in Vienna. Yes, my beers get odd names 😀

It’s very young and has only been in the keg for a week. Nicely carbed by now, it is very malt driven, has some residual sweetness and low bitterness from the Hallertau and Tettnang hops and a nice body. Head retention is good and the colour is what I was aiming for. Considering it’s age and that I forgot to put in finings, clarity is quite good.

I’m looking forward to it when I get back, when it will well and truly done.

The O'Connorwery vs Coopers Brewery, Round 2.

In the green corner, can and bits Pale Ale 001, bottled 6/5/23. In the other green corner, Original Pale Ale, Best After 25/3/2021.

001 comes out of the stalls with a little deeper colour but the two beers are almost equal on the head. Coopers has the carbonation but only by a whisker. Coopers edges ahead, but only just, with a slightly stronger aroma. They are nostril and nostril.

At first top up Coopers pulls away with a much better head but 001 claws back some of the ground with better and more sustained lacing.

As we come into the second and final top up Coopers is drawing away. Coopers head and carbonation seem untroubled by the distance. 001 is going up and down on the same spot.

001 still shows the twang said to be characteristic of a young brew. It still has a long way to go to catch up to the more experienced beer from the Coopers Brewery stable but it'll be better for the run.

*Apologies for the mixed metaphors.

K&k Coopers Extra Stout, it’s nice and dry, dark and delicious and fullbodied. I don’t wanna pried myself but I had worse commercial ones. This one was a stubby. I am curious if the long necks will even be better.

It looks nice BF; I have only ever done Grolsch bottles or Longnecks & now a couple of kegs, but I can't say whether they were better or not.
