HOOK NORTON BREWERY 'HAYMAKER PREMIUM PALE ALE'

First taste was a little underwhelming & tasted strong however I think it should be served at a warmer temperature as most English Ales.

I find most English beers have pretty poor head retention, but I am sure as it warms in the bottle, I think it will improve.

HAYMAKER 5%

A strong pale ale of distinctive taste. Plenty of Goldings hops give it something extra.

Like sunshine dancing on your tongue.

See: Dark bronze
Smell: Apple, fruity, hoppy
Taste: Rich, sweet, fruity

Hops: Fuggles, Goldings, Challenger, more Goldings
Malts: Pale, Caramalt, Enzymic

Bitter:2.5
Sweet:  3.5

Allergens: Barley

It didn't improve, in fact it ain't very nice at all, Australian Pale Ales are far superior. I wouldn't buy this again as most of the other Pommie beers, they just don't seem suited for our climate.

OLD HOOKY ALE 4.6%

Hook Norton is one of the few remaining family-owned English Pubs and Breweries in existence in the UK. They produce ales of true distinction and flavour just like this fruity and full-bodied ale, Old Hooky. Wonderfully balanced and rich in texture, Old Hooky has plenty of aromatic fruit-driven notes and a palate covering smooth finish.

Honestly, I don't know what the fuss is all about, this really is no big deal, in fact it tastes pretty ordinary, sickly, sweet, lousy head retention, it died as soon as I too this photo & it ain't my glasses. I am done with Pommie Beers, I have made better than this 40 years ago.

There is no way you could compare this with an Aussie or American Ale. I just won't be buying any of these again.

Definitely not my good man, my glass cleaning regime is very strict, NO Dishwashers, NO Detergent, hand washed & cleaned with Bi-Carbonate of Soda, rinsed & stored correctly.

The reason for the bubbles is the crappy Pommie beer served too cold for this climate, the carbonation & head retention are lousy & the taste is even worse.

Cheers 🍺

I have just come from an appointment at the Radiology Clinic for an Ultrasound & steroid injection (Quartertone I think it is called) & it is confirmed I have Bursitis in my shoulder. The Doc has said no lifting for a few days so that has ruled out a brew day, for now.

I have to drive past my local on the way home, so I called in for one (Medicinal purposes only) 🤣 it was only Great Northern 😬 but at $7.00 for an Imperial Pint-570ml it's alright, I guess.

You Mexicans call it a Pint but if I was to order a SA Pint-425ml it would have cost about $8.90-$10.90 so I put up with that.

My doctor is a home brewer & I quite often pass on information to him & he appreciates it & I said I night go & have a beer, he said, good idea-have one for me. 🤭

SOUTHERN SESSION ALE – 4.5% ALC

This crisp and sessionable extra pale ale is a homage to all of the fabulous beaches along our beautiful South Coast. As blonde as the sands the region is known for, let its easy drinking nature and fruity notes sweep your taste buds away to their ultimate South Coast getaway.

southcoastbrewingco.com

A South Aussie Brewery down the coast, this is as good as any Pale Ale anywhere, lovely floral notes, citrus, hoppy.

It was on clearance for $2.00, they have only just released their can range. I will try their others.

Speedy recovery mate, obviously the Doc's orders were for refraining from "Heavy" lifting only - still able to raise an elbow thank goodness. 😄🍺

Only available in the State of Maranhão is this traditional beer brewed with locally grown Manioc and Corn. „Magnifica“ is brewed in the style of an American lager with Abv of 4.4%. It is refreshing and light with an ideal drinking temperature of 0-4 degrees. It had a rangingest to it due to the manioc. It went down perfectly last night with our seafood dinner on the river bank of the Rio Preguiça in Barreirinhas in probably still 28 degrees at 10pm. I wouldn’t drink it again but last night it went down nicely.
