Drinking trends have changed & through Coopers own DIY ROTM's etc. they certainly would have been able to gather information about which brews are trending & are popular.

Although I personally wish they kept the Aussie Bitter I am sure that the boffins at Coopers are smart enough to figure out what should sell well.

I just hope this is not a trend to becoming more 'Americanized'.

Also' date=' I'm guessing a number of recipes will soon be disappearing from the DIY recipe bank as they will no longer be able to be brewed? [img']unsure[/img]

Hopefully PB2 will be able to modify the recipes to fit other kits or make them extract recipes.

PB2 - what about a Coopers club runout sale on the last of these cans? whistling

Some interesting trivia re the Bootmaker Pale Ale. It is true Thomas Cooper was a bootmaker before he was a brewer.

Amazingly, the boot store building still exists. It is a private home now, but it still has the signage on the side of the building. It is located in Bridge St, Kensington, just over the road from the original historic Rising Sun Inn. You can see it here -

There is a stout in the original series' date=' probably doesn't hold much to the TC one though.

I personally prefer the old packaging from what I can see. The Diybeer seems to really cheapen the whole thing. Really sad to see they dropped the Australian Bitter. Seems to be becoming more Americanized (with a z).

Curious to know if its just a relabel of the other cans though.[/quote']

I like the old packaging too - way more "premium" looking with the gold trim and whatnot.

I'm still curious about which have just been relabeled too. Surely the sparkling ale hasn't changed, but what about the wheat, IPA and pilsner varieties?

i was in dans today stocking up on commercial coopers for a week away camping, i always take a walk past the homebrew section to see whats up.

there is already a newly labeled canadian blonde, from what i can see, its been re packaged more for selling internationally, it has multiple languages on it and now has kjs ratings ect,

i think the international and OS series will stay the same, just with the new labeling to make overseas sales more accessible

I wondered what Beer and Brewer was on about as I could not find any info about the kits when I read it...I just assumed it was a misprint (something that mag specialises in) but then I saw a coopers ad mentioning them in the same mag.

They still don't seem to be on the coopers store though?!? It sounds like a move in the right direction but the labels are pretty ugly...they look like a packet for kids crayons sick but I guess it is whats on the inside that counts.

I really like the new labelling,

- Appearance of the made beer poured into the appropriate glass is quite informative and helps newcomers see what it is.

- The whole Thomas Coopers "Craft beer" beard thing is pretty cool, he's the original trendsetter!

- Sketchy rustic look has a nice appearance to me

The new line of beer cans is just what is needed in this evolving time. Yes some of the old cans will be missed but not for too long.

I do hope the international range will stay, and it would be awesome if the new DIY Thomas Coopers cans can be purchased (or ordered) at Dan Murphy's.

It's going to cut my brewing time down for sure.

My staples beer could easily be any of the new TC range, without steeping or boils purely from a time point of view (still dry hop where appropriate).

Every 3rd or so brew from now will be a little more complex to experiment.

Cheers Coopers!

From a careful reading of the press release it seems like the IPA is now being late hopped with citrusy American hops instead of Styrian Goldings. The wheat kit extract is likely the same but it is possible the yeast may have been changed to a true wheat yeast. The pilsner kit seems to be the same.

The Bootmaker Pale Ale might just be the old Traditional Draught extract, which I only recently learned was late hopped with Cascade. We will have to wait until PB2 updates the yeast sticky to find out if the yeast has been changed from the Cooopers Ale/lager blend to a third party "West Coast style" [?BRY-97] ale yeast.

For such a big announcement & shift in kit bases, very little is being shared by Coopers with us here on the forum.

Hopefully our next Coopers Club newsletter gives some more detailed information about each of the new kits, as the website is very slow in putting up anything relating to them. pouty

Given the development time to get the final LME's into production, by this point, I admit I do find the lack of peripheral concise information available about each of the kits, a little disappointing. sad

It'll all come out eventually, of that I'm sure, but given modern advertising options available for Coopers on this front & the frameworks they've setup, timing-wise I don't feel the launch has been very well coordinated at all (IMHO). rolleyes

I do agree with you lusty regarding release information, it would have been nice for Coopers to send an email to club members and/or drop a link here for us.

They obviously aren't available yet so I'm sure all the info will come out in due course. More than likely when current product warehouse stocks get down to a certain percentage, they will appear on the website and in the shops.

I wouldn't expect too much hop or detailed yeast information as this, before also, was withheld in strict confidence.

So Paul' date=' have the ones that look like they had existing equivalents (ie. sparkling, pilsner, IPA and wheat) changed?[/quote'] Yes and all brew can details (at least what I'm permitted to disclose) will be posted on the forum once I get the green light from Mr Harris. sideways
So PB2 is the APA kit now the Bootmaker Pale Ale kit but with a different name and label?
As OVB said.
Same question for the Sparkling Ale?
Inkeeper's Daughter Sparkling Ale is a rework of TC Sparkling Ale - increased the bitterness and changed the yeast.
Hopefully PB2 will be able to modify the recipes to fit other kits or make them extract recipes.
The odd recipe may be dropped but in most cases the recipes will be modified with the new brew cans to get something fairly close to the original recipe.

I have no influence on commercial decisions but it doesn't hurt to ask the question at wherever you buy our products.

IS series is Australian pale ale

New TC series is American pale ale

Would you say the new sparkling ale is closer to the brewery version? There is a recipe for this but it doesn't include any hops

Awesome' date=' thanks.

I buy them from the online store' date=' so how about a run-out on the on-line store? [img']cool[/img] I think people may just want to get their favourites before they run out, any indication on when the old cans will be phased out?

Also there is a brew A recipe already, based on the Aussie Pale Ale. Might give an indication on what the TC Brew A IPA might be like.

Only just noticed this thread.

Great that there is a revamp of the range, but a bit disappointing some of the old cans have been replaced with new recipes.

That said, clearly many of us home brews like to replicate craft beer styles, so it's a great marketing strategy, & I'm sure the new cans will be up to the usual high standards.

I'll have to work my way through the new TC range now!

No doubt there will be a revamp of the recipe section too, including some new styles & recipes!

I saw a new style OS series can side by side with an old style OS series can at Dan Murphy's this afternoon. I know it's the same extract inside' date=' but I'm finding it hard to actually buy a tin with that design lol. I know it's silly but they just look horrible.[/quote']

Didn't happen to get a photo?

Sorry I didn't, I tend to leave the phone at home these days on short trips out, can't afford the demerit points for texting while driving and don't have the will power to ignore my phone lol.

Hi guys.

I just received an email through the Coopers Club stating the new kits will be available from December 4.

I assume that date is direct through the Coopers store, & they may take a little time to filter down to our LHBS's.

How nice of Coopers to release them on my birthday! coolhappy

Cheers,

Lusty.

Only just noticed this now, bit slow off the mark these days.

There's a lot changing to take in. Have to say though not loving the new designs, I know it's early days and there may be a perfectly reasonable strategic decision behind this but to me from the old TC to these they just look "cheaper". My missus is a FMCG marketing director so I'll see what she thinks, interesting.

Can't wait to see some more gory details on these new cans though.

Cheers!
