I am starting to get to like the Coopers Lager, it is nice & clean,  good flavours.

It probably also helps they are on special at BWS for $15 x  6 pack. 🤣

Must revisit this beer. I tried it once and was underwhelmed. Might have had a bad day.

I love all of Coopers beers, but first taste of the Lager didn't do it for me, but I have persevered & it's actually not bad.

I know it’s the wrong glass for this beautiful Aldi special, but I wanted to show of the latest two members of the family. The small glass is really beautiful and the big fella is bloody heavy, it prevents you from drinking too much, cause you can’t lift it anymore. Got them at Vinnies and the lady behind the counter got really exited “ oh, that’s 🇯🇵 Japanese”. And so was she. Not that I needed them, but Sapporo, as well as being a great beer, always reminds me of watching the ‘72 Winter Olympics on Tv as a kid.

Yeah, I remember Yukio Kasaya in ski jumping back then 🙂 When we were kids, building our own ski jumps on the hill next door, we called ourselves Yukio Kasaya, Sepp Schwinghammer or Jiři Raška 🙂

If you hadn't have told us he was an Olympian I would have guessed he was an adult movie actor.

After drinking so many Lagers this one is really hoppy, but in a good way. It smells like hop pellets. Really love the aroma. And for $9.50 for a four pack I’ll get it any day.

Excellent value at $9.50 as a 4 pack. These days you can't get many beers at that sort of price unless you buy in carton quantity.
Side note: This brand changed it's name from Colonial to CBCo to avert protestations from those that might be offended by the name. These are sad times we live in.

Gee, it's been a while, and I've had quite a few, let me tell you.

Colonial Brewing Co Pale Ale, not bad.

Pentridge Brewing Pale Ale. Very local, not bad.

Birra Baladin L'IPA, very nice.

Cerveza Alhambra Reserva 1925, a nice amber lager.

Birra Baladin Wayan, also very nice. The Italian deli has a few more of these in the fridge for me to try. They're a bit pricey but excellent quality.

Grand Ridge Brewing Gippsland Gold Old World Pale Ale. Quite a nice drop. Not my first time, they were almost certainly the first craft brewery I ever visited.

West City Brewing Pale Ale, not bad.

Juicy IPA by 3 Ravens, another local. It's juicy alright, pretty good.

A few bargains I picked up.

GOAT Pale Ale, a bit lemony but at $14 a six pack it was quite palatable.

IMG_20240214_182445056.thumb.jpg.d1786184ce5b54e1451f3ae1e4488dfd.jpg

Golden Pipes Brewing Hazy Pale Ale. It was alright.

IMG_20240217_191724880.thumb.jpg.823770aea35e1abc47a110bd0e704d69.jpg

Moon Dog Hazy IPA. At 30% off I grabbed a couple and went back for more before they sold out.

Tinniest XPA, also 30% off, not bad.

IMG_20240218_192004258.thumb.jpg.351e1e483f42d315ca5f70e9b93d97b6.jpg

Garage Project Chipper Hazy Pale Ale, also 30% off. A pleasant drop.

Steam Rail Pale Ale. At 50% off this is a very good investment.

I made a mistake. Yesterday I decided to treat myself and buy a nice "craft" beer for a change (Stoke Legacy Hazy IPA) . Afterwards I drank my Nelson's Light, which I've been pretty proud of and enjoying lately. It paled in comparison 😔 Looking back on my previous Untappd rating of the Stoke IPA I had given it a pretty average score. Guess my tastes have changed as of late.

I'll try not to let it get me down. If I drink my homebrews after a cheapie commercial they usually taste superior, and still at a fraction of the cost.

Jeepers - that's a large difference in beer styles and profiles I would have thought mate - hardly a fair comparison surely.

Don't be too hard on yaself @ChairmanDrew  🍺 🍺

Yeah, gotta remind myself of the core reason I came to homebrewing; to save $$$ 😅

As you build confidence you start to get a bit ahead of yourself. But as you say, styles make fights 🥊

I've actually recently tried a beer from a local micro brewery who make some damn fine brews. But this was an "American Style Lager", which was actually true to form in the worst possible way. So I know I can still do better than the experts, depending on the playing field 😉

That's interesting @Triple B Brewingand @ChairmanDrew, Just last night I tasted two of my Coopers extract homebrews alongside each other; a Brew A IPA and an Australian Pale Ale with hop additions. They were so different - I found it hard to 'compare and contrast' and think which one I preferred. I guess it's just enjoy the difference!

Yep I have the same problem @jennyss as I’m trying all the Coopers Recipes looking for four different “daily drinkers” within the different styles (eg; Lager, Amber, Ale, I haven’t even started on the Stouts yet) that I’d like to put on high rotation for a while so I could then make a few subtle changes to suit my liking, but there’s just soooo many different choices and so much to learn, I happily keep getting distracted 😉🥳😋🍺🍺🍺🍺
