I think the gas adapter is worth it for sure - you can get up to 500°C on the stone with one of those laser thermometers. I have made a mistake of washing the stone once: I couldn't get it hot enough to cook the pizza , especially embarassing as I'd invited the neighbours round. Now I've got the cooking part pretty much OK I will also buy fresh but uncooked ones to try. I just couldn't stay off the demon drink. It seemed like the easiest option.
