Shame when your cultural heritage gets lost, but still I’d draw the line at boiled tripe… Surprisingly I don't think I've ever eaten tripe and I believe it has a history of being a poor man's food. My grandparents/parents were poor, post WW2 migrants and I imagine tripe should have been part of their diet but from what I can gather is my dad didn't like tripe and so we never had to eat it either. A bit of genealogical fortune on my part I guess.

Can you imagine someone walking through a forest and seeing mushrooms for the first time in history? "Ooooh! What's this white bulbous object growing out of that possum sh1t? I had to prepare & cook it in the AACC but I escaped the eating it, horrid, nasty looking, smelling stuff you have to break it down & flavour the hell out of it otherwise it tastes like Yuk. Zucchini Pasta is nice, you can garnish with all sorts of stuff, well done Old Chap. 3

Yeah when they first opened it was hard to get in unless you were dressed impeccably, looked sober & had $100 notes sticking out off your pockets, the Council 'cleaned' up the area for it's opening & I would say the Pie Carts came under fire as well. If you go to the Casino these days you will see every dero imaginable banging away one one of the 1,000 poker machines etc. You can also play 'spot the Aussie'

I worked in London 7 months a year for four years. 2015-2019. Lived in Richmond beautiful place, right on the Thames - and the pubs - OMG they were fantastic. It was a fantastic time really - living mostly in London in the summer months mid May until late December and then coming back to Oz for a few months for summer and then back to the Old Dart again....followed the sun basically for 4 years. But the Pubs, simply stunning. 3
jennyss
I've just discovered this 'What's on the menu' thread. I'm getting hungry just reading and looking at the photos. We're having roast chicken tonight. My husband stuffs it with lemon wedges, garlic, parsley and basil; and rubs the outside with olive oil and salt. I've been busy this afternoon pickling chillies grown by a neighbour, and yesterday I made fig jam from our own fig tree. We've finished our first Lager brew (sob) and have to wait till next Tuesday to taste our Pale Ale.

We went Up The Smoke (no-one says that anymore apparently: I got it off some 70s cops-and-robbers show like The Sweeney) to eat. The Indian is a chain of about 6 restaurants called Dishoom. Really, really good food. The first one was next to Carnaby Street and the other in Kensington. London is really buzzing, has been for quite a few years. I lived in Paris for 17 years and can tell you in all honesty you get much better tucker in London. Nowadays you would go to Paris to go to a cuppla museums, see the Eiffel Tower, go on a river barge at night with the lights on etc. etc. In other words you go there when you're new in a relationship For that last curry in High Street Ken we had to wait 30 minutes for a table - and that was lunch time, on a Monday ! 2

Beautiful ! My neighbour gave me some figs (this was during our summer I hasten to add) and I made up a fig and almond tart/pie thing, really good. Classic Brewing Co
Greek style tonight, lamb steaks cooked medium 63c . ( Note to @stquintoit is actually dead ) it is not so authentic as Greek Salad does not contain lettuce but who cares it was very nice with a few slurps of red wine. 4
RDT2
Lamb chops on the Weber high indirect heat with olive oil home made rub of garlic powder, lemon pepper, oregano, salt flakes and Rosemary. Meant to have onion powder but don’t have any as there appears to be a world wide shortage of onion powder so just used more garlic powder.
