Tricky's Thai Trip

As we come to the end of our visit with Tan's family in Thailand unfortunately her grandmother passed away yesterday. There will now be 3 days of mourning which will include a 3-day wake and the chanting of the monks in the village. There will be food and drinks and the celebration of the grandmother's life. She had an incredible innings for someone who lived off the land. RIP

Great photos Mick, condolences to your family.

I see a sneaky beer in the last photo. 😉

Thanks for the photos Mick.  Condolences to you and your family.  Strange how things like that can happen.  A co-worker of mine had to go back to Vietnam for his grandmother's funeral a few weeks back and while he was there, his great grand mother passed away.  She was 100.

I was fortunate enough to visit Thailand in 2009 - my first trip OS. It was fascinating and your pics show it still is. I was always amused by their power lines.
Obviously a sad time for you all but also sort of a blessing Tan was able to be with her family when grandmother passed.   R.I.P.
@Tricky Micky The cooking implement that resembles a truck wheel - do you know the how, what and why of it's functions? I've never seen one before. It looks like it saves meat juices on the perimeter to make soups and sauces later perhaps? I don't know.

MW, thanks for kind thoughts. It was good Tan was here when her grandma passed.

The truck wheel thingy is a Thai BBQ can be either gas fired or use charcoal as the fuel. The idea is to cook meat fish or shell fish in the middle section and put the vege etc  in the stock in the moat section of the bbq. The protein juices run off into the stock and create an awesome flavour.
