Yes, I agree, I have never been to Ireland, but I have visited enough Irish Pubs over the years.

There certainly is an art to achieve the perfect pour. ☘️

SIX STEPS FOR THE PERFECT GUINNESS POUR

  1. Select a cool, beer-clean, branded Gravity Glass.
  2. Holding the glass at a 45-degree angle to the tap, open the tap fully by bringing the handle all the way down toward you.
  3. As the beer fills, adjust the glass to an upright position, closing the tap when the beer reaches the top of the gold harp on the front of the glass.
  4. Allow the beer to settle fully until the entire pint is a consistent color throughout (it takes about 90 seconds).
  5. Top up the beer by pushing the tap handle away from you until the beer is just proud of the rim of the glass. The total head height should be between one-half to three-quarters of an inch, or 12-18 mm.
  6. Serve the glass with the Guinness logo facing toward the guest.

And as the guest, you lightly dip your finger into the foam and pull it upwards. If the little peak you create remains for a while, the Guinness was poured correctly. If it disappears right away, it is a poor job.

Monsuta Okinawa Dry

Nothing much to say about this apart from it was $2 in Dans on way back from LHBS.

Just a plain old beer really, was whipper snipping in the back yard so when finished I smashed it down.
5/10

I reckon that's all they are worth, I bought one once to try & didn't finish it.

Yeah I was thirsty after whipper snipping so smashed it, anyway no more of them.

West Coast Pilsner at Ballistic. Tasty beer but a little too many hops for the style. Nice bitterness but a lotta fruity aromas. In typical WC fashion there also seem to be oats in the grist.

Coup de Grace. This is one heavy beer. Thick, rich, malty, dark and very sweet. It’ll need all of this to hide the 11% ABV. Reminiscent of the Barleywine I made a while ago. Very tasty but one per day is enough.

The Dark Overlord from The Mill Brewery

The next Merri Mashers meeting will be at The Mill. I jumped onto the website just to look up the address and ended buying a four pack and a T-shirt. The delivery arrived the very next day, to my great surprise. Plus they threw in a couple of stickers which will go nicely on my fermenting and lagering fridges.

Roasty, malty and hoppy: a pretty nice beer overall.

Grabbed a 4 pack of this from the local here in Kingscliff.

Aether Brewing is actually from Northgate, Qld.

This is an XPA, not much information on the can, 3.5 % ABV

Tropical, fruity, pleasant aftertaste, give this a 7/10.

Now this one is dryer, with a more bitter chocolate and coffee complexity. Very nice as well.

I just had another Grifter and the flavours are really nice. But my Stout has a much nicer creaminess and mouthfeel.

My father in law just visited. Dropped off this beauty from Greenock Brewing in the Barossa Valley. Smooth as silk. Clever name too, I thought.

Nice, I have been there for a few but not tried that one being 6% ABV whilst driving.

Perhaps if you are a good boy, he may get you 2 next time. 😉

I don't want to push my luck. I felt fortunate getting one.

Rage Juicy Pale Ale by Blackflag Brewing.

I visited their brewery in Coolum Qld last year and pretty sure I tasted this.

Not bad, very juicy initially , dry finish.

Cool as artwork on the can 9/10

Overall taste not bad, 8/10

Went to a first choice and actually looked at it. Decided to buy a 4-pack of Nanny State instead, considering I live in Qld 🙂
