Think of a marathon runner making a clone of him/herself during a race.  Sure, there is now two of them, but they have only half the original energy each so hence they will probably not finish the race any faster.

Perhaps your right. Im not a scientist. But if that's the case how does coopers breed them? They must otherwise we wouldnt get tge sachets. Or when you harvest yeast from the dregs, how does that work?

 

IMO they grow and multiply, just like anything else. Otherwise we would have run out of yeast 100 years ago.

Yeah did that once. Had to take the S bend out of my laundry sink to get it back. Havent dumped one in the fermenter yet. That day will probably come 🤣
