Brauhaus Fritz
Today I had my first flip top bottle bomb. Two drops in a long neck, FG stable over three days, stored in a cool spot. any ideas?????
Classic Brewing Co
Is it a new bottle or has it been used many times, it shouldn't matter though as I prime my 450ml Grolsch swing tops tops with 6gms of sugar & the closest I have had is upon opening one day it blew the top off & cracked the bottle, I have never had any bombs. It could just be a one off but you will know if you get anymore.
Greenyinthewestofsydney
If there is only 1 bottle in the batch then you can be almost certain that bottle was not cleaned properly. If its the whole batch overcarbed then yeah it wasn't finished fermenting. I bottle most of my yeast driven beers and I get a gusher every 3 or 4 batches or so.

With my old batches I never had any problems , just recently in summer
Marty_G
I agree with @Greenyinthewestofsydneyif it is only one bottle in the batch the bottle either: had a spot of mold in it or the bottle had a weakness. or both.

Now I have read right back to the beginning of this thread I can see what a variety of recording methods all you home brewers use. Mine is the exercise book variety so far. Too much detail I think; but perhaps that's alright for a beginner. Or an ant will do it. Not stored in a really hot location?

I was bottling a beer last week. Filled a bottle. Went to put the crown top on. I hardly put any pressure on the bench capper and the bottom of the bottle broke. Beer everywhere.

At least it wasn’t blood and beer everywhere! 1
