Did you have bad experiences with unboiled chucks? Just asking to find out if that contributed to my volcanoes and bottle bombs? Nothing bad, but I had some brews that I dry hopped using a Chux pulled from the packet and they had a slightly, not quite right taste. I switched to boiling the Chux and have not had this taste since. It might be a coincidence. However, I now always boil the Chux first.
Mikes15
Come across a suggestion for adding finishing hops via a hop tea;- The night before bottle / kegging you add the hops to around 500ml of 60'C water & allow to cool while steeping, then you simply strain this into the FV / bulk prime vessel / keg prior to bottling / kegging, it was even suggested to steep in a coffee plunger & simply plunge to filter them when pouring! Anyone tried something like that? - sounds like a solid idea to me. Edited April 15, 2022 by Mikes15
kmar92
@Mikes15 I do this form of adding hops all the time and it works well. I use the coffee plunger method and add that to the keg before I pressure transfer.
