Ryano2
Hey guys, I'm wanting to put down a coopers session ale and the recipe calls for Melba Hops. However, every website I go to is sold out. Does anyone know where to get them? seem to be a hot item at the moment.
Greenyinthewestofsydney
Id sub galaxy in mate. Very similar. Some of the less mainstream hops get difficult to source particularly around this time.
RepSpec
See this thread. Melba is nothing like Galaxy...(well in my use of it) I found it gave of a spicy note to it that was quite enjoyable. Galaxy is more floral. Shame its not available at the moment
Hairy
People perceive things differently. I don’t get floral from Galaxy, I get fruity similar to passion fruit.

Beerlust
Given the DIY recipe uses Galaxy & Melba, there's probably enough passionfruit from the Galaxy already, so I'd be inclined to target a hop that has the other two properties of Melba. They being grapefruit & citrus. Hops such as Cascade, Summer, Riwaka, or Ella just to name a few that would probably work well. Cheers & good brewing, Lusty. karlos_1984
I used Citra and galaxy in my attempt of a session ale. Turned out great
Gus96
I substituted Centennial for the Melba and Nottingham for CCY , I happy with it and a few friends thought it was alright as well.
