Lotm
Way to go Scott. Partials are awesome, mainly because they are so forgiving. If you get rubbish efficiency from your mash there's still plenty of gear for the yeasties to play with from the extract you use. So when does the AG start? [innocent] I'm using a 24"X24" bag in a 19L pot (Big W). Can't afford any more gear presently. How much grain Could I mash with that setup? Also, what's involved in calculating efficiency? Is there a thread anyone could recommend?

PhilboBaggins
Hey Scott. These two threads (on other sites, sorry PB2!) are what got me into AG. WITH a 19L stock pot I might add. Maxi-BIAB on BIABrewer (can see the lot without signing up) http://biabrewer.info/viewtopic.php?f=89&t=352 NickJDs 19L method from AHB (need to be a member to see all the pics) http://www.aussiehomebrewer.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=44264 Doing smaller batches real comfortably http://www.aussiehomebrewer.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=38674 It can get a bit messy using MaxiBIAB, but I've had great results. I still use a sort of Maxi to get high gravity into the cube and then dilute it to 20-23L. I use a 32L pot that I got from my asian grocer. I reckon those threads should have info on efficiency. If not, then browsing those two forums will definitely help you out. Good luck mate! [cool]
PhilboBaggins
Even SWMBO loves my All Brain Zombeer! OMFG, I thought I was being real quick picking that up, but I take my hat off to you Eoin. You have beaten me fair and square in the funny contest! [lol] [lol] [lol]
PhilboBaggins
BTW Scott, notice how the guy from BIABrewer has lined his stove top with foil. This is a REALLY good idea. Once wort is cooked on to a stove top, good luck. I know from experience. [crying]

Long Gone
G'day I have been enjoying this home brew experience for near on two years, putting down close to 50 Brews and like Beerlust I am as happy as Larry. Most brews have been what you call kits and bits, brew goop, extracts, grains and hops. I have only been checking this site for about 4 months and started to do some of the extract recipes that you have posted here.

Wal
This weekend I will be experimenting with a Canadian Blonde (don't worry Chad' date=' I'm talking about beer [innocent'] ) with some grains and plenty of hops...[love] . Time permitting I'm also hoping to get another Pilsner and an English Bitter under way. SWMBO will be happy to know that I intend on spending another weekend in the shed!!! A quick update - I managed to get three brews done (the CB, an EB with Fuggles and a Czech Pils) and they are happily sitting at their respective temperatures. I got around SWMBO pretty easily - I ducked out Saturday morning and bought her a new laptop so she was pre occupied with that for the weekend!!! PB2
These two threads (on other sites' date=' sorry PB2!) are what got me into AG.[/quote'] No problems here, Philbo. [biggrin] We're all about making beer. If you consider the brewing fraternity to be in the shape of a pyramid - all grain brewers would be very near the top, just below commercial brewers. So it follows, the more people there are making beer from basic materials, the more people there are making beer [w00t] God bless the woman who gives birth to a brewer

Muddy
I've actually got too much beer at the moment!! My cellar is chockablock. Trying to reduce my stocks. I've also switched entirely from PET to glass, I have well over 150 PET bottles, so they are getting boxed up as they're emptied and will go on ebay, probably. I aim to eventually only have 2-3 batches of beer at any one time. At the moment I have: 2 cartons of AG Nelson Sauvin Summer Ale (a cracker) 9 longnecks of AG Smurtos golden ale 1 and a half cartons of kit Sparkling Ale (terrible. Giving it away - I can't drink it) 1 carton of extract Neil's Centenarillo (also ordinary, didn't work out this time) 1 carton of a fresh wort kit porter, which is great. I love brewing, but always end up with too much beer!! I'm trying to cut down drinking as I gotta lose some weight for my wedding next year. Luckily I'm throwing a pool party/BBQ next sat which will be a good opportunity to get a lot of beer drunk. Which will mean I can brew again! I now brew AG BIAB exclusively, the rewards are so much greater. Just gotta work out what to brew next - I've got a good recipe for an amber ale using recultured Coopers yeast, but I think its too early in the season to be brewing darker beers. Might brew a pale ale type of beer next. As a newbie to this game, gimme a heads up on the PET's going on EBAY Soundawake.. I may need a few extra when I start my second brew around Xmas. Right now, I have my entire 30 PET's full of the Original Lager..can't free any up until the week before Xmas when the lager will be drinking ok I hope!. Scottie
Yes I am. Check this Link out. I have a Canadian Blonde kit that I need to turn into a clover honey blonde, but from here on is I reckon its gunna be at least 75% Extract using Coopers unhopped LME. Exception: I still have to do an Abbey Ale for my mate's SWMBO, I'm tending towards a Mangrove Jack's Belgian Ale [cough], just to get a sighter, soryy PB2. BTW nice thread to start Anthony, I had every intention of staying away but the pull of the Brewing Brethren was too much. I hope that BillK experiences the same pull [Pouty]. Scottie
It is good to have you back Scottie' date=' even if it is as 2 people! [lol'] Anthony. You know I've seen it written here that you shouldn't post when you are under the influence. I am finding this very counter intuitive seeing how it is a home brew forum [biggrin] . Perhaps I will need to stop posting soon, post night shift and a few frothy tops already. Anyway when I decided to burn my previous Coopers Identity, I was under the influence and changed to a random e-mail and a complex password. The burn was that successful I don't think any of PB2's IT experts could fix it. So two people it is two people, me and *****, but this Scottie MKII won't be getting into any debates [unsure].
