Coopers Pale Ale

Recommended Posts

I put together a Coopers Pale Ale on Friday 8th with 1.5kg Light LME & used s-04, the airlock started working after about an hour & now, Wednesday it is still working, there is evidence of a very active krausen but the 30l Ambi style fermenters are opaque so it's a bit hard to see.

From past experience I can tell this will be a good brew as the colour is good & there is a nice neat yeast deposit. I normally would have used US-05 but I decided to use this one, has anyone had experience with this yeast before ?

I have veered away from using S-04.  It stalled on me twice.  But I was brewing it around 18C.  If I did use it again I would have my temperature control set to at least 20C.

It stays around around 18-20c at ambient in my brew room, the insulated jacket helps keep it above 18c, I only used the S-04 as the Mountain Goat Pale Ale kit contained it but I swapped it for US-05.

That must be a recent brew.  I cannot recall you posting a RDWHAHB photo and review yet.

Yes it is, I bottled it on 04/10/21, getting very close to popping a PET sample, Monday would be 14 days if I can wait that long !!  I did 1 x 12 Coopers Longnecks & 26 x Grolsch.

I use it every year I in my Stouts and Porters which it has been really nice. I used it in an imperial stout also using the yeast cake and it demolished it. I think I ferment at 20 or 21 and had no probs.

Yeah it is good for Stouts, the website says between 15-20c my ambient hovers around 18-20 so all good, the airlock has just stopped after week so I feel all is well.

I have just discovered the MJ Blonde Dry I am doing today contains Kveik Yeast which may help me turn it into more of a 'West Coast Blonde Ale". I have LME & some Galaxy so I will give it a go. I am wanting more of a Summer style ale rather than a lager. So the fermenting temperature will suit my current ambient brews until I fire up the Brew frdgge/Temp control.

I've had the same experience. Up around 20 and you'll be good to go @Classic Brewing Co

I really like the standard yeast that comes with Coopers Aussie Pale Ale. It's reliable and has great flavour.

Currently have a kit brewing with no added sugar/malt, just some Denali/Sultana hot water steep and made to 18L in a Keg King pressure thingy. Should be about 3% ABV

Just following up on this brew I bottled today;

Coopers Pale Ale

1.7 Can Extract

!.5 Pouch Light LME

S-04

15GM Chinook Infusion

SG 1.041

FG 1.014

My calculations for the ABV came out lower than I had expected 3.54% but I assume the calculator bases the reading on 1kg fermentables as I used 1.5kg LME - surely it would be higher ?

Considering you bottle, add .5%
