Frank Jones
2014 hops selection all the way. 2015 is (far) too fruity ... and by a long shot! Coopers should not be a Boutique beer, but seemingly trying to be?! But why ... Van Diemens already did that .. and not successfully? Frank?! ben 10
AFAIK Coopers do not change the hops or the make up of their Pale Frank.
Hairy
I thought the pale ale only has bittering with Pride of Ringwood. The 'fruitiness' is probably derived from the yeast and becomes more evident as it warms up.
PB2
Hey Frank, welcome to the forum and it's good to see that you agree with your initial comments. Do you have more info regarding the beer being in 375ml, 750ml or on tap? If in bottle, do you have Best After details? Both Ben 10 and Hairy are correct - PoR is the only hop addition and is only used for bittering, thrown in at the start of the boil. The fruitiness in our Pale Ale is derived from the yeast fermentation. This character changes over time in the bottle. The estery fruitiness tends to mellow with bottle age so perhaps you have a batch of Pale that is younger than what you would usually drink?? Beeblebrox
I reckon it'd make a difference the way it was stored prior to purchase; if it was chilled that would have pretty much stopped the conditioning process, so may have locked in the flavour before the esters were really evident. if it was stored warm, it would have developed more. The longer it's chilled the more the yeast compacts to the bottom of the bottle. You could try buying them warm & chilling some whilst letting some sit at ambient temps for a month or so to see if you can notice the difference. Cut it out' date=' Harry. That'd be like buying a box of Easter chockies for your dad, and not letting him open them until Christmas!
