koolaid

I have koolade and i have beer.

I just bottled a batch of mexican cerveza and came up with the flawless idea of putting some cherry koolade powder in a couple of bottles.

ingredients:sugar, fructose, citric acid, ascorbic acid(vitamin c), vitamin e acetate, calcium phosphate(prevents caking), acesulame potassium and sucralose(sweeteners) artificial color, red40.

Instructions: add one sachet to a 500ml bottle.

weight :15g

I used one sachet between 2 bottles already bulk primed to 6g/l

Place your bets:

A - it kills the yeast, resulting in flat cherry stuff.

B - it overprimes the bottles, resulting in a bright red explosion

C - it overprimes the bottles, resulting in super fizzy cherry stuff

D - It makes awesome cherry beer.

E - it makes disgusting cherry beer.

I'm going to live in hope and say 'D'[happy]

A - it kills the yeast, resulting in flat cherry stuff.

it won't kill the yeast

B - it overprimes the bottles, resulting in a bright red explosion

Could very well be possible as Fructose is fermentable.

C - it overprimes the bottles, resulting in super fizzy cherry stuff

This is possible. See answer for "B". If not a lot of fructose then "C" is probable.

D - It makes awesome cherry beer.

With the right quantity then this is possible I reckon

E - it makes disgusting cherry beer.

Maybe if too much was added it might give an unreasonable balance.

Personally I think it might well be worth trying. However, need to caution for the grenades and I reckon with the right amount of koolade and less sugar, you may well be onto something. I can't try that here as I have never seen koolade anywhere and can't be bothered hunting it down.

All in all to answer your question I will choose:

B + C + D [alien]

A Tip: The 2 bottles you have included it, I suggest to wrap them up in cling/glad wrap. At least then if they do explode you won't have glass everywhere. Assuming you bottle in glass that is.

  • 3 weeks later...

WOW, 7 pages of threads in the time it takes to carbonate a beer!

Anyway... the results are in, and it's :

D - It makes awesome cherry beer.

I probably chilled it a bit too much in the freezer, so it's a bit cloudy (as normally happens to me when I crash chill young beer in the freezer) but it is awesome.

It was crystal clear in the bottle.

It's like a carbonated cherry drink, but not like coke cherry.

It still has all the mouthfeel of a beer.

It has some floaties, but they probably would have settled out if i had left it more than a couple of weeks.

So basically, it works and with more conditioning and patient chilling it probably would have been clear and candy red.

And for Lotm, here's a video of the next one being opened:
