Geez all this talk of people chasing down Oiginal series bitter...and come to think of it, it's one of the only original series I have never made! Are you guys saying I should join the chase to get my hands on one of these cans, before I become one of those few who never tasted it?

ITS BLOODY BEAUTIFUL!!

it has darkened to almost a dark ale colour, but with a red tinge when held up too light!!

bitterness has mellowed as paul said, its got the creamiest (just a lil more white than tan ) head.

a subtle sweetness and the tiniest hint of roasty/ toast.

maybe hint of nuts too ,but its hard too tell as i just ate tacos!

so what did we learn today kids.................never ever throw a batch out!!

cheers

matt :D

p.s. maybe more dark copper than dark ale,,,,,hell i dont know,,,ITS GOOD BUT!

Just cracked a stubbie of "English Bitter" that has been down just short of 3 weeks, must say it is quite nice.

I will give it a bit longer in the keg, which I am naturally carbonating. Maybe crack it in a month to 6 weeks.

Cheers,

Peter

hi all,

josh, ill fill me keg then bottle about 7 tallies or whatever!

ill leave it 3 months (if i can resist) n taste a bottle...the keg will have aged more n ill base the "keg cracking time ' on that!

what i mean is if its too bitter or raosty toasty ill leave it for six months in keg to mellow!

cheers mate!

  • 3 weeks later...

i tried it!

3 weeks old and at 2 degrees its quiet a nice beer!

when i let it warm up to 10 or so it was a bit rich for me.

i have a keg that i will be drinking before winters end.

i think its better than the old bitter, the syrian goldings made big difference i think!

LOL.. ITS DRINKABLE JOSH, SO YA OFF THE HOOK!! :P

cheers

matt
