Guzz
Went fishing today outside the Hawkesbury, massive schools of Australian Salmon and we got amongst them using very light gear. Perhaps not the best eating fish around but great for fish cakes which I will making tommorow. Great sports fish, most of em must have been around 3-4kg's. Took us ages to fillet them all, which we did on a nice little beach where the pic below was taken. A great day, the Hawkesbury is so beautiful. For reference, there is a bottle of Coopers Pale Ale in the photo Caught a few flatties too! Cheers Guzz

antiphile
Howdy Guzz I have to admit I don't recall ever eating Australian Salmon, but I really just love flathead fillets, especially when they are very very fresh. Well done, big boy! BTW, what bait did you use to catch the Coopers Pale Ale?

Canadian Eh!L
Nice catch, Guzz! Did you catch them with bait, lure, or fly? That looks like a beauty of a pool behind you!
Guzz
We caught them on little steel lures and soft plastics, the schools were massive, must have been hundreds of thousands, if not millions of them in a feeding frenzy on little baitfish. That pool behind is fresh water running down from the surrounding hills, had a lot of rain in Sydney recently. Just nearby on the rocks we saw a big fat seal, big monitor lizards too. The Hawkesbury is really a beautiful place and so close to Sydney. It has amazing sandstone rock formations, stunning gum trees, birdlife. Beautiful place for sure, Ive been coming her emy whole life and know it well. I just don't know why they let the trawlers in there, they drag the bottom with big nets every day, such a shame. BTW, Australian Salmon are not actually salmon, they in the cod family I do believe. Guzz
