Nick
put down an APA last night as per kit. pitched yeast at 22 deg. this morning the krausen is underway, but it has a bit of an eggy smell, its only slight and it doesnt taste bad. i have done over 20 brews now and never experienced this. has any one got an explantion apart from a possible infection? i have read threads about lager occasionally having a rotton egg smell that dissapears after bottling[crying]
Guest
It's not abnormal to get an eggy smell and it will dissipate in the bottle if not before. Relax, sit back and enjoy the show. [joyful]
AdamH1525226084
as what Bill said. The kit yeast has some lager yeast in it (as well as ale yeast), so would explain why the eggy whiff is there

LordEoin
you'll have to eggscuse me, I was scrambling around 'sampling' my Hop Gobbler. It's eggscellent. I'd never answer a serious question with a jyolk. I'm far too chicken for that kind of behaviour. Cluck you for even suggesting it... But yeah, the smell will pass and it will be fine [happy]
Wayne (Captain Yobbo)
Expect the egg smell from any of the coopers kits that have the ale/lager blend nearly every time I make a brew with the ale/lager blend I usually get the get the egg/rotten egg smell. LordEoin
I have the saflager s23 in my currently brewing black lager and it's stinking. The beer should be good though and that's the main thing.

Hairy
OK, leave the bacon in there and remove just before bottling. Keep making these egg and bacon beers so it gets on a roll [innocent]
