Mainiac
For my first brew I made the Coopers Lager. The beer has plenty of head when I pour it but disappears quickly. I had in the fermentor for about a week and it has been in the bottle for about 2 months. Any suggestions?
Canadian Eh!L
M, What's the recipe you put down? More malt + more time in the bottle = more head[rightful] Two months is a decent time for aging a light ale but maybe not an all malt recipe. Dextrose does nothing good for your head. Not in the morning or after two months[biggrin] [innocent][rightful]
Hairy
Adding some specialty grains will help. Apart from adding some flavour and 'freshening' up a kit, it also assists with head retention. Adding some wheat malt will also help with head retention. +1 to what Chad said. More malt and less dextrose should do it.
AdamH1525226084
Maniac, I think it's just the way that first beer comes out. Otherwise, make sure the glass is completely clean of soap as that can affect head, and pour into the middle of the glass. +1 to what the others have said re grains and wheat malt - as you expand your repertoire you will discover what ingredient does what in terms of head, flavour etc.

Mainiac
I think that is what Marie Antoinette said. [crying] I made the DIY lager kit 1 can lager 1.5 kg BE1 carb drops. Hopefully my stout turns out better 1 can Stout 1 Can Dark LME
BrewingBenny
Hey Mainiac hows your lager I bought the same ingredients. I bought saflager 23 though to add instead of the kit yeast which I believe is an Ale yeast
Mainiac
I am not that impressed yet, but I think that is a reflection on me not so much the kit. I am learning more with each brew so I hope to have more success
Hairy
It isn't the greatest kit on its own. If you run with the lager kit with a brew enhancer then it is a pretty bland brew. For me it is definitely a kit that needs pimping out with grains and hops.

Guest
A fast disappearing head is a symptom, amongst others, of too much soap/detergent used. Maybe your glasses need to be rinsed in hot water after they have been washed?
sic_vl
The best thing i've been introduced to is crystal malt. Using 200 - 250gms makes all the difference.
Guest
Wait till you try Dry Wheat Malt... add 200-300g per brew and see what that does for a nice creamy head [rightful] [lol] Yob
