Mainiac
Has anyone here tried sanitizing Coppers PET botlles in the dishwasher?
Guest
I wouldn't do it personally as dishwashers run too hot for PET bottles and they won't be able to clean the inside properly
Hairy
I am pretty sure they would melt. My dishwasher heats up a lot; both the water for washing and the drying process.
Mainiac
I would try it if I knew my wife would not catch me.[bandit]
ash
i gave the local newsagent a beer to taste, told him just give me the pet bot back clean so he put in it the dishwasher now it's a different shape & still dirty ,so i wouldn't try the diswasher at all
AdamH1525226084
someone posted a few months back that they did it and said his standard 30 bottle brew didn't have enough bottles - they all shrank [lol]
LordEoin
even if your dishwasher has a 'cool' cycle, because they work by basically firing soapy water at the dishes they won't be much good for cleaning the inside of the bottle. you'd just end up with a clean outside and a grubby inside. TimA3
Sorry guys but I disagree. My cleansing cycle is 24hrs in sodium percarbonate. Rinse in dishwasher on 70* pots setting with intensive zone and hygiene mode activated. Hygiene mode is a high temp setting to sterilize baby bottles etc. they done melt or deform. And end up squeaky clean...

Mainiac
If Coopers will donate a case to me i will run tests on the bottles and post my findings here. Since I work in the food industry I have access to highly accurate monitoring devices. A scientific approach will settle this once and for all. Muddy Waters
Using a dishwasher just seems to be the height of laziness.....but at the same time requires more effort. Just give your bottles a quick rinse as soon as you empty them and then a spray of star san or iodophor at bottling and your good to go.
LordEoin
I'm with muddy on this one. Rinse after pouring, store somewhere clean, quick sterilize before bottling. But glass bottles for the win. 10 mins in the oven to sterilize. No chemicals or effort needed.
