weggl Posted August 5, 2011 Posted August 5, 2011 Around 4-5 weeks back I was typing away and some of my words were maked in red. It seemed that the powers that be had introduced spell check. Never saw it again. Was there a test going on? Warren
Guest Posted August 5, 2011 Posted August 5, 2011 It still happens. Just the same if you use word as an email editor. If you right click the red underlined word it will give you an option to change/correct it. If you know the word is right then add it to the dictionary and it won't be underlined in red next time.
Muddy Waters Posted August 5, 2011 Posted August 5, 2011 Bill - I beleive Warren is saying he knows how it works but it isn't working anymore. I know my posts occasionally highlight mispelled words but most of the time it doesn't. I'm not sure why it is intermittent.
weggl Posted August 5, 2011 Author Posted August 5, 2011 Yea Muddy, thats what I mean, do the geeks turn it on and of at their will? Do we have spell check or not? That is the question? [roll]
Guest Posted August 6, 2011 Posted August 6, 2011 Then it must be a Tasmanian thing as I have had it all the time. [ninja]
weggl Posted August 6, 2011 Author Posted August 6, 2011 I dont have a Tasmainian, I have an Apple, but still, they grow in tassie.
PB2 Posted August 8, 2011 Posted August 8, 2011 [unsure] Are the mispelled words underlined within the text box or when you look at the preview?? or Are you referring to typing a response in another application prior to cut-and-paste into this forum?
Matty A Posted August 8, 2011 Posted August 8, 2011 I was thinking it might of had to do with the web browser they were using. I think if I use my laptop i get the squiggly line underneath but cant be 100% sure.
weggl Posted August 8, 2011 Author Posted August 8, 2011 Paul, in the text box. But only now and then. Warren
weggl Posted August 8, 2011 Author Posted August 8, 2011 I think Matt might be right, it underlines when I use Firefox but not with Safari. Paul the red is in the text box, but no correction. Warren
Matty A Posted August 8, 2011 Posted August 8, 2011 I don't think Coopers would know anything about it. Just a plugin thats installed on your browser which will spell check anything thats written in a text box.
Guest Posted August 8, 2011 Posted August 8, 2011 I use Firefox at home and have IE at work and both are fine. I have never been on those African Safari ones so can't comment on it.
Matty A Posted August 8, 2011 Posted August 8, 2011 Its not that it doesnt work properly its just that the spell check is not always there for Warren.
BakersAle Posted August 8, 2011 Posted August 8, 2011 its never there for me i should go off and get myself an edumacation so i can spell and read with out beer goggles
weggl Posted August 8, 2011 Author Posted August 8, 2011 Allan, beer goggles are ok if you keep them foam free[cool]
Muddy Waters Posted August 8, 2011 Posted August 8, 2011 I use firefox and it is there occassionally - how do I get it there all the time?
Hoptimus Maximus Posted August 8, 2011 Posted August 8, 2011 I use firefox and it is there occassionally - how do I get it there all the time? Have you upgraded Firefox Muddy? If so you will probably need to download a new dictionary. Here is a link that may help. https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/language-tools/ That problem happens occasionally for me with Nightly and Minefield the test versions of Firefox that I have been running for the last year. They upgrade daily.
Matty A Posted August 9, 2011 Posted August 9, 2011 It could be a plugin that is simply disabled and somehow enabled sometimes. Also no-one from Coopers has denied that this function has been planned and they are testing it[rightful]
PB2 Posted August 9, 2011 Posted August 9, 2011 Also no-one from Coopers has denied that this function has been planned and they are testing it[rightful] We aint[sleeping]
Hairy Posted August 9, 2011 Posted August 9, 2011 A denial. That's the response you would expect from someone conducting secret tests. Matty, don't let go of your conspiracy theory just yet. I think I've been watching too many movies.
Matty A Posted August 9, 2011 Posted August 9, 2011 That was my first thought too Hairy. I didnt think you would be Paul. I think I notice it only when I run firefox on my laptop. If i remember correctly I had to install this tho Spell Checker
Muddy Waters Posted August 9, 2011 Posted August 9, 2011 John I just upgrade via your link and it works - Thanks mate [biggrin] Matty - Spell check was enabled but wasn't working. Warren - Check out John's link and you should be cooking with gas [cool]
weggl Posted August 10, 2011 Author Posted August 10, 2011 Yea Muddy got that butt dont corected the spellin.
Muddy Waters Posted August 10, 2011 Posted August 10, 2011 Did you download and install the dictionary again Warren? If you do install the updated version it will work. You may need to select "check my spelling as I type in your advanced preferences tab if it doesn't.
