best extra stout

just wondering has any one made a best extra stout, using the stout yeast in the can. instead of using the commercial yeast  ,cheers

Years ago I made the original version of the recipe which was a stout kit, dark ale kit and 1kg dextrose. I used the two kit yeasts and it turned out well.

I made stouts with below ingredients but with 200g dex and kit yeast.

I wasn't satisfied with my stouts until I started doing the classic toucan, dark ale, stout, 1kg of dex.  Kit yeast, commercial, trub all works fine.  I don't do the half prime thing that some do.

Best Extra Stout
(20 litres)

• 1.7kg Coopers Stout
• 1.5kg Thomas Coopers Dark Malt Extract
• 500g Coopers Dextrose (or table sugar)
• Acitve Coopers commercial yeast culture plus brew can yeast
• Coopers Carbonation Drops

Nope sorry.

Always use S04.

Just the kit yeast would probably be an under pitch, two would be better, probably.

There are a number of others on here who also provide great advice but thanks for the kind words mate. 

Also, I forgot in my original post but I made it to 23 litres.
