DanielS27
Im keening on making the current recipe of the month - Caribbean Siesta. I can't seem to track down any calypso hops though, does anyone have any hop suggestions that would go nicely for this brew?
Hairy
Just a bump for you mate. I have never brewed it so I can't really comment, although it hasn't stopped me on other matters [biggrin] PB2 designed the recipe so perhaps he could offer up a suggestion. PB2
Perhaps EKG, Bramling Cross or Tettnanger - they're not really that similar but small amounts will give the same kind of subtle hop character. BrewCellar may be able to get Calypso in - they are supplied by Ellerslie. Failing that, you could always buy the recipe of the month online[biggrin]
Otto Von Blotto
http://www.yakimavalleyhops.com/category_s/1843.htm Just had a look on here, not for Calypso, but just to see what they have available, they are listed there. Just depends if you want to buy in bulk though. I normally order 4 pounds at a time to make the most of the shipping.
Hairy
Daniel, I love EKG hops [love] Obviously I haven't tried it in a Cerveza but I have used them in many other beers. I really like the subtle earthy flavour of them. I am not very good at describing flavours but that is the description I give it.
Adz
Daniel' date=' I love EKG hops [love'] Agreed, I bottle an APA EKG hops last night. I haven't tasted it yet, but I can already tell with aroma. It smells so good!! [love]

Otto Von Blotto
Yeah definitely. Seems the $17 shipping is back to 3.5 pounds now. But depending on what varieties you get, you can buy that amount for between $55 and $70. It works out around 1.6kg. Compare that to $5 for 50g at the (my one anyway) LHBS or $70 for 500g.. it's certainly way cheaper. I just need to get a vacuum sealer so I can put them into 50g packs or something to keep them fresher for longer.
MikeyBycrikey
How did the brew go? Just put down that recipe yesterday with Calypso hops from the yakimavalley shop. More curious about how this will taste than I am with most ag batches
