MarkF26
I have a temp controlled fridge with STC-1000. What is the recommended temp for brewing a coopers mexican cervesa with BE2?
Otto Von Blotto
Depends on the yeast you're using. If it's the kit yeast, I'd go for 18\xb0C. If you use a true lager yeast, about 10-12.
MarkF26
Probably kit yeast seeing as that's what i've got around at the moment. Is there any major benefit to chasing down something else?
Otto Von Blotto
The kit yeast will be fine. I don't know that there's any "benefit" as such to using other yeasts, but they all have different effects on the flavour of the beer. I really like US-05 in my pale ales, for example. LordEoin
I've brewed this as low as 14C and as high as 24C and it always worked out fine but if i was to recommend a temperature i'd probably agree with 18C

I normally use kit yeast but found i got too much of a sulphur smell. What diff have you found with us-05? Well for starters, no sulphur smell.[lol] That's probably caused because the kit yeast also contains lager yeast, whereas US-05 is just ale yeast. I've found it to give quite a clean, refreshing kind of taste to the brews I've used it in.
