The new Australian Pale Ale homebrew (as seen in the latest newsletter) is available at the Coopers General Store...when brewing it for the first time be sure to use Brew Enhancer 2 or the Light Dry Malt! You can order on-line or walk in to the shop on East Terrace.

 

I will let you know as we get it listed in other supermarket and variety stores...it is trickling out to the Home Brew specialist stores so keep an eye out!!

Bottled my first Pale Ale yesterday, the weather has been perfect so the temperature control has been easy, I bought a new fermenter two brews ago, I was a lot more fussy with everything than usual so I have given it every chance to be perfect, a few pale drinkers are already lining up for a taste! I'll let you know how it went in a few weeks.

I put on a keg of pale and sparkling (home brew) for a party recently and both were very well received. I think they are both very close approximations to our commercial Pale and Sparkling Ales respectively.

I have noticed it in Big W and it appears more Coopers lines will be flowing through at the expense of Brewiser and Wander products...I hope you can get ranging of the malt , brew enhancers and Hops as well as the Pet bottles....one criticism I have is that I am getting split/leaking bottles all at the base.In addition I purchase the product from Coles and have noticed the last batch are very dark coloured,is this ongoing if so ...they are terrific.

 

Finally if possible,both Big W and Woolworths are crying out for a complete range of brewing offer from fermenter kit to replacement bottles to brewenhancer and Hops...although I enjoy the Homebrew specialist shop I am saving $8-10$ a batch for the same products purchased through the chains.....a pretty big savings each fortnight ...kind regards Greg]

Yes, the Australian Pale Ale home brew concentrate is now being ranged in some stores but, unfortunately, it's a bit of a "hit and miss" as to which stores have it and which don't...once again, the only option is to keep an eye out.

 

 

 

We are currently having a tough battle ranging our products into stores with major brewing companies, now pushing their brands of home brew onto the shelves, complicating the issue. Ideally, we would like to give all stores an opportunity to host a "Coopers Home Brew Bar" (as seen in the Dec 03 newsletter) or similar. We'll keep at it!!

 

 

 

The PET bottles you are describing are probably the new style made by an Australian manufacturer - easily identified by the five feet on the base. I am guessing that your split PETS have four feet on their base...just give our 1300 number a call and we will replace the failed PETs.

It's not quite a month since I put down my first pale ale, got back from the Darwin supercars a couple of days ago and chilled a few down for the test, I don't drink a lot of pale becuase I usually drink homebrew, but I found it quite like the origional pale ale, and so did the other three blokes that had a go at it, if I can stay away from it for awhile I will give it another couple of weeks before the next go I reckon it is still a bit new but pretty good!

My pale ale is abit of over 6 weeks old and already is very nice.Very hard to keep hands of :lol: well done Coopers! i reckon every body shoud try the lovly Pale

After 7 weeks of waiting, I could wait no more. Two bottles of the pale were put on ice, and after 4 hours they were sampled. What can I say....Mother's Milk. Put another brew down as soon as I'd finished the bottles.

I grabbed a can & made a batch, kegged it, drank it, loved it

 

 

 

now i keep searching the shop for more cans but they haven't stocked it since (still keep looking) even the hbs was out of stock when i called in.

we have plenty of Australian Pale Ale Home Brew in our warehouse...as much as I would like to, we can't force the retailers to order from us...our marketing people are scratching their heads...I would grab a brute ute and deliver direct to store if I could!! I am interested to know what HBS has run out.

 

Don't forget that the Coopers General Store stocks it and Harris Scarfe now stock it.

Paul, not complaining i grabbed a can of pale as soon as i saw it and plan to make it the permanent beer on the second tap (Dark ale being the first)

 

I am fairly patient. not complaining.

 

 

 

I put it down to being in n.s.w. and the store being a large chain store I was going to wait a couple of weeks and then ask every time i enter the store "WHERES THE PALE ALE "

They stock 'em in Coles in Berri which is good to see. The one I made came out a little thin but nonetheless quite drinkable.

 

 

 

I've got a Sparkling maturing in bottle at the moment. I can't wait to taste that one.

not only do we not get, or at least yet, pale ale on the shelves, but the supermarkets and K Mart who all sell a limited amount of homebrewing products do not keep the brew enhancer or any of the other coopers ingredients, (apart from a few carbonation drops and caps) we do not have a decent brewing supplier here in Alice and so if we choose to brew anything but the international series, we must have our gear shipped in. The couple of times I have done that I must admit the service from Coopers has been pretty good, the only problem is that I usually forget to order at least one item and that holds everything up.

I put the shortage down to shops underestimating the popularity of the mighty pale and not ordering sufficient stocks to meet the initial demand

Some stores have reported sales of 280% higher than expected...just imagine how good their sales would be if they had enough product to keep the shelves stocked at all times!!

 

 

 

We can tell them it's going to be a good mover until we are "blue in the face" but they only believe once they see it for themselves. I guess retailers get hundreds of suppliers approaching them with a new product guaranteed to "sell like wildfire" only to find that it sits on the shelf.

As a beginner to this home brewing stuff (but the 6 brews I've done have all been Excellent!!) I've noticed that most of the sugars have an indication of the approx Final Grav reading I can expect.

 

 

 

Have just put on my first Pale Ale brew and couldn't find that info on the can or on the Brew Enhancer 2 packet. (or maybe I'm just blind???)

 

 

 

Can someone plesase give me some advice.

my brother in law was over last night (BIG GIRL megaswill drinker) I bought a stubbie of pale for a taste test.

 

 

 

tapped the keg pulled a pint & 1/2 at 40 psi to drag the sediment off the bottom, then pulled 2 schooners (15oz) and poured the stubbie into a 15oz glass

 

 

 

his first reaction was the cloudiness i then showed him the stubbie glass (darker! upended the stubbie to create the cloudiness)

 

 

 

his response was best brew of mine & said it was the same as the taste of the stubbie (but him being a hahn light drinker)

Doc. I tried something similar. Brought a long neck of my HB Pale to work. Friday arvo, cracked it open and poured off 3 schooners for my beer drinking staff. Accolades all round. They loved it. Then I grabbed a coopers Pale from my bar fridge and poured it for their comparisson. They thought the only difference was mine wasn't cloudy, and if anything, the coopers was maybe slightly sweeter. My father-in-law also tasted my Pale, and the next day had two brews of his own down. Best HB I've ever had!

It is worth the wait, so try and leave them as long as you can. I've been leaving them a minimum of 8 weeks.

Mind you, I've got 2 batches of stout to work my way through before I get to the Pale Ale which I'm going to bottle tomorrow. So I reckon the Pale will be safe for couple of weeks.

 

 

 

Just checked the SG which seems to have settled at 1010 which means an Alc % of about 6% which surprised me a bit.

 

 

 

How did other brewers get on with the Alc % of the Pale?

You'll see down the bottom right of this page that the messageboard does, in fact, work off GMT (or whatever it's called these days).

 

 

 

This is easily changed by the board administrator to whatever they want it to be. I reckon it should be South Australian time, since that's where the board is based.

 

 

 

My forum at http://www.homebrewandbeer.com/forum/ is based in Melbourne and thus the time it displays and works off is GMT+10 hours (not allowing for daylight saving).
