BrewingBenny
Bottled a draught with 15g galaxy added to the FV in pellets at the onset of brewing. 4 days in the bottle I tried a stubbie, carbonation was unbelievable but BITTER ++++++, Will this eventually mellow out, or will it stay very bitter as a rule. Cheers [biggrin]
Otto Von Blotto
It will mellow out over time, but you won't get any bitterness from pellets added to the FV. The only way you will add bitterness is by boiling them.
BrewingBenny
It may just be the fact I can taste the hops that I associate it with bitterness. Really hoping it mellows out or there will be some free beer for someone [ninja]
Hairy
It isn't bitterness Benny. Galaxy can be a bit harsh at first but it is very nice with some time in the bottles.
BrewingBenny
Thanks Hairy, I'll give it a couple of months and see how it pans out. Otherwise it wasn't a bad drop.
GregT5
4 days is probably a bit early to be cracking a bottle. I have done a Pale Ale with Galaxy hops in a syle of a Stone & Wood Pacific Ale & it took a couple of months to mellow. I think patience may be the key to enjoying this one. BrewingBenny
I always check them early greg, would hate to have 30 bottles of off beer there for 3 months, the bottles could be filled with valuable liquid amber that was good LOL [biggrin] [devil]
Otto Von Blotto
I usually try one after a week if it's an ale. If it's a lager I'll give it 2 or 3 weeks. But I like to try one early because I figure if it tastes half decent when it's young then by the time I get to it in 3 or 4 months it should be bloody awesome.
