MitchBastard
Howdy peeps, im thinking of transferring my recently fermented wort to another vessel as I have a fair bit of hop debris which ended up in the wort due to a mystery hole in a hop sock. i was going to cold crash in the new vessel and bottle from there. my questions being 1. Is there a better method of eliminating unwanted gunk in the wort than what I’m thinking of doing? 2. Do you need to repitch any yeast after a cold crash when bottling? Greenyinthewestofsydney
Id just cold crash in the primary vessel. The hops will drop. Wasting time doing a transfer to a secondary IMO. You dont need to repitch yeast either. Plenty there still to carbonate.
grogdog
Gday mitch Another way is you can cold crash in your fv, then on bottling day transfer to a secondary and bulk prime. I liked doing it this way, bottling nice clean beer without the yeast cake and shit to stir up or carbonation drops.
Otto Von Blotto
I wouldn't bother, besides if you do transfer it's better to purge the headspace of the secondary with CO2 so if you can't do that I would just leave it in the fermenter and do a bulk prime in a secondary like grogdog suggested. karlos_1984
I dry hop commando, then cold crash in my primary fermenter for about a week. They do drop but I still get hop matter floating around. I transfer to a secondary, which I line with a cleaned and sanitized grain bag, which acts as a strainer and collects any hop debris. Since doing this my beers have been clearer and had no floaties so I find the extra fart arsing around is worth it in the end.
