Hello guys.

 

Below is a list of recipes submitted by forum members in the "Coopers O.S Lager Kit Challenge" thread. Each recipe listed below has a corresponding letter next to it. Simply state this letter as your vote over in the "Coopers O.S Lager Kit Challenge: The Vote" thread.

A). Hairy's Galaxy Ale

 

1.7kg Coopers Lager kit

500g Light Dry Malt

500g Dry Wheat Malt

200g Dextrose

250g Caramalt

20g Galaxy hops - steeped

15g Galaxy hops - dry hopped

US-05 yeast

23 litres

Ferment at 18 degrees

 

 

B). GregT5's Willamette Ale

 

1.7kg OS Lager

1.5kg Coopers Amber Malt

25g Willamette hop pellets - steeped

Kit yeast

20g Willamette hop pellets - dry hopped on day 4

Made to 23 litres.

Brewed at 18 deg.

 

 

C). Scottie's "Make Do" Ale

 

Coopers Lager Can

1kg Coopers Light Malt Extract

250g Light Dry Malt

250g Medium Crystal (120EBC)

250g Dextrose

25g Nelson Sauvin @ 8 minutes

15g Amarillo @ 5 minutes

Kit yeast pitched at 22'C

Fermented at 20'C for 11 days.

 

 

D). Reuben's CNS Ale

 

Brew Kit: Coopers Lager

Adjuncts: 500 grams light dry malt extract (4 litre boil)

Coopers brew enhancer 1

 

Hops: NZ Cascade - 33 grams @ 30 mins

NZ Cascade - 33 grams @10 mins

Nelson Sauvin - 25 grams dry hopped for a week

 

Yeast: kit yeast

 

02/06/12 OG: 1.042

17/06/12 FG: 1.013

ABV: 4.4%

IBU: 60!

 

 

E). AdamH's "Almost Bavarian Dark" Lager

 

OS Lager Can

0.5Kg Med Crystal

0.2Kg Chocalte malt

0.5kg DME

1Kg BE1

20g Hallertau (dry hop)

23 litres

Saflager W34/70 rehydrated around 20\xb0C (as per Fermentis instructions) then brought down to 16\xb0C. Yeast pitched at 16\xb0C and brought down to 12\xb0C where it will stay for a few weeks. I plan on transferring to a secondary and lager for 2-3 weeks.

 

 

F). SteveL's Copperhead Road Ale

 

OS Lager Can

1kg ldm

200g caramunich

200g dextrose

15g Motueka @ 15m/ 10g moutueka, 10g saaz @ 10m/10g motueka, 10g saaz @5m

Safale US05 yeast

Made to 21 litres

OG 1048, FG 1010

H). Sir Jimmius's "Happy Constable" Ale

 

Can OS Lager

1.5kg IGA Home Brand Sugar

1 X 12g sazz teabag 15 min steep

1 X 12g Tetnanger teabag 15 steep as sazz in 2 litres just boiled water then strained into Fv

Kit Yeast 23 litres

 

 

I). Nick's English Chocolate Ale

 

1 can OS Lager

1 can Coopers Amber Malt

250gm Crystal and 50gm Chocolate steeped for 45 minutes in 2Ltrs water @ 65deg

boil wort and 250gm LDM for 30 min with 30gm EKG then steep with 15gm Fuggles for a further 15 mins

pitch with English Ale Yeast and ferment at 18 deg

 

 

J). Beerlust's Mt. Hood Ale

 

Coopers OS Lager tin 1.7kg

Briess Munich Malt Liquid Extract 500gms

Vienna Malt grain 1.25kgs Mashed @ 66\xb0C for 60mins

Medium Crystal Malt grain 200gms mashed/steeped @ 66\xb0C for 60mins

Carapils grain 200gms mashed/steeped @ 66\xb0C for 60mins

 

6 litre Mash with 1.5 litre 66\xb0C sparge.

 

Hop schedule:

 

Mt. Hood hops 25gms added to strained wort & allowed to cool naturally for 30mins. (Similar to FWH)

Wort then brought to running boil (efficiency should hopefully create around 5-5\xbd litres)

Mt. Hood hops 15gms @ 15mins

Liberty hops 25gms @ 5mins

Mt. Hood hops 25gms @ 1min

Wyeast 1056 American Ale yeast pitched @ 20-21\xb0C for 12hrs, then

reduced to 18\xb0C for remainder of primary ferment (2 weeks).

 

 

K). LordEoin's "Pretty Moot" Lager

 

1 can lager

500g dark DME

300g carapils

300g chocolate grain

35g EKG - 60 min

15g Fuggles - 20 min

15g Fuggles - 5 min

Saflager S23 yeast

No brewing temperature listed.

 

 

L). Edmeister's Double Smash Ale

 

2 cans Coopers OS Lager

1/2kg Dark Dry Malt

1/4 kg White Sugar

Mix up to 21 litres

pitch in both kit yeasts at around 20 degress and ferment under that.

50 g East Kent Golding dry hop when krausen dies down.

Hope so

But I'm just happy to be in the comp. Pity it wasn't a Pale Ale based kit though. The English Pale Ale that I am sampling now is alright, I think you can take that kit to all three beer brewing continents and turn out [love].

Please remove my entry, it was not meant as a serious candidate to this topic really, there are multiple steps and hops in there that would be well beyond the ken of "how to brew" noobs.

 

Seriously, it would make a tasty damn beer but is not appropriate for this. It is not a simple easy brew despite the fact that it is [lol].

 

Consider this my resignation and vote for Hairy Tuna Taco.. wait, thats not right... Hairy's Passion Fruit Taco.. hang on.. ahh feck it, I think you get my drift, Hairy has my Vote if it can be counted for anything [innocent]

 

If removed, I will mod this post to reflect.
