Pistnbroke
Gday all With the warm weather now hitting, and no temp control, I think its time to switch to brewing ales. I dont think my latest batch of heritage lager will taste too good with the temp it fermented at. Any recipe suggestions for some delicious ales that may be more suited to the warmer temps would be much appreciated
Muddy Waters
Basically all ales really - just try to keep them down around 18-20C.
Snags
I just sampled my first draught yesterday (2 weeks in bottle) and I have to say. . . . wow.[love] Bloody excellent! Won't be going back the the O.S Lager![innocent] Thought I'd share the (simple) recipe. Coopers O.S Draught 1kg Light Dried Malt Extract 300g Dextrose 12g Morgans Hallertau Finishing Hops (5 min steep 250ml boiling water, added to F.V before yeast) 22L Water Kit yeast
Hairy
Pistn, if you are looking for an ale that is perfect for a summer day then I would highly recommend the Neill's Centenarillo Ale. It is simple to make and is a beautiful beer [love] A link to the recipe is below: Neill's Centenarillo Ale

Muddy Waters
12 pellets....I used 13 once and whoa baby that was a rough beer. Just kidding (I amuse myself) it is most certainly 12g of Hallertau.
Snags
[pinched] Forgot the 'g' lol.[lol] Edited post. Yeah, I have just been using the "Morgan's Finishing Hops" Really is a lovely drop though, very happy with it. I have two F.V's with this same brew in it again, will be the 'session' beer until another comes along. Cheers, Mick.
Pistnbroke
Thanks everyone for the input. I might give the centenarillo a go, it looks mighty tasty, and would be a great intro to extract brewing.

weggl
Snags, that Draught of yours sounds good, a bit on the powerful side, around 5.8% The Pet Weggl

Snags
Haha, 5.8%! Is it that strong? [pinched] [lol] Bloody nice though, very smooth, beautiful flavour! And it now sounds like it will get the job done quicker, which means I fork out less beer to the mates![rightful] I might make up a few batches with just 500g of LDM for the hot summer day quenchers. . . Beer Loving Trent
I made a similar OS Draught, but used 1kg of dext and 500g LDM with 12g PoR @ 10 minutes, when I did a reading at 1 week and drank the sample it damn near gave me a stiffy. I prefer my beers stronger, although I don't recommend making a Canadian Blonde to strong, I did that once came out very very light, with little taste, and the punch of a champion heavyweight boxer [bandit] Trent

[innocent] No little blue pills were harmed (used) in the making of this beer. Although, I'm damn keen to try it only bottled it on Friday night and will be making another batch of it this Saturday.
