BCJP scored kit brews

I recently entered a national brewing competition, mostly with hacked Coopers Kits.

Although I didn't win top place, I'm very happy with how I got on.

There were 334 entries in total and the highest scoring beers got 44 points.

Here's How I got on (score, base kit, style)

40 - Coopers Wheat Beer - Witbier

31 - Coopers Pilsener - Saison (frankenbrew)

30 - Coopers English Bitter - Standard/Ordinary Bitter (hop gobbler)

30 - Brupaks Belgian Tripel - Belgian Tripel

25 - Coopers Australian Pale Ale - American Pale Ale (fruit salad)

18 - Coopers Pilsener - Standard/Ordinary Bitter (frankenbrew)

13 - Coopers Canadian Blonde - Anerican Pale Ale (only 2 weeks in the bottle)

I also entered a stout and IPA, but I must have categorised them wrong as they scored nothing.

A big thanks to everyone on here that I've learned from over the past year. [biggrin]

Well done LordEoin! The Witbier received a great score. You probably weren't too far off taking that category out.

Do you get written feedback on the beers or just a score?

I was going to enter some beers in a local comp a few weeks ago but found out about it too late and missed the cut-off by a couple of days. I was under no illusion that I would win anything but was interested in getting feedback from the judges.

Hey well done Eoin, it just goes to show that kits and bits can be just as good as AG, and in the reach and budget of any dedicated homebrewer.

i speak to Ned online occasionally and he said to pass on his good wishes, he also said that he wasnt having a go in an old thread that ended up in siberia...i am sure you know what he meant

Cheers, Nick

You just reminded me Nick, he actually asked me to pass on his best wishes to all on this forum. I forgot to at the time (must have been something I ate[innocent]).

Says he wishes he was able to say G'day to everyone. [cool]

I have no idea what Ned means, I took no offence in anything he said anyway. Give him my best [happy]

Hairy - I haven't got any feedback yet, the judges are having a few days off before sending out all the scoresheets.

but i'll let you know what they have to say [wink]

I'm even surprised with the low-scoring beers. I wasn't even going to enter them, but I wanted the feedback regardless of how young and poorly categorised they were.

CHeers folks [happy]
