BrentOs
Hi All, Just purchased and put down the 'Hop Gobbler' Kit I purchased online. It Say's to add the 2 types of Hop's after 2 day's of fermenting.... 1) Should it be a dry hop or wet??? 2) Should I put it in a Hop Bag or just pitch in the top (if dry hop) Cheers, Brent
Gash Slugg
I'd just throw them in dry. Some would use bags. Up to you! depends if you don't mind the hop matter in the wort.
Otto Von Blotto
Adding hops after fermentation has started IS dry hopping, whether you chuck them in loose or put them in a bag. As far as I know anyway. What's a wet hop? Never heard that term before.
Hairy
Wet hops are fresh hops that haven't been dried. They are usually picked and used in a brew a short time later. So the hops in the Hop Gobbler kit are dry hops, regardless of whether they are dry hopped.
Gash Slugg
I have seen people who put their hops in a coffee cup or similar and use boiling water to make a tea then add that. Maybe that is what he means?

Guest
Dry Hopping basically means to add hops after fermentation has started. Yes, you can do this with a tea etc. However, this would be advised to add as a tea. Therefore, in this case you can either just throw them in "commando style" or wrap them losely in a new chux cloth (fresh out of bag) and throw that in or if you have a hop sock just sanitise the sock and throw that in (hops included of course [pinched] ) or if you have a hop ball you can use that.
