I have just finished kegging a Coopers Australian pale ale and gases it in my kegerator at 20psi over about 5 days. I have now cut the pressure back to 10psi but it coming out a bit heady. Is it over gases and if so will it settle down at this new pressure.

cheers

Hey Rocky and welcome to the forum. Yeah it sounds overgassed. It will eventually come back to the 10psi as you drink it but if you want to get it back to a good carbonation before drinking then turn off the gas and pull on the pressure release valve every 6 hours or so for 2 or 3 days. Then chuck it back on your serving pressure and it will get back to that nice carbonation level. If your thirsty though just pour and let it settle then pour again etc.

Hope that helps mate

Yeah, 5 days at 20psi is a little high. In addition to what was said, you could turn off the gas, burp the keg and then pour your beer with the gas off/gas line disconnected. Let the beer pour itself. Once it pours fine, put it back on gas at serving pressure. I had a hopelessly overcarbed Porter and somebody suggested trying it. It seemed to do the trick.
