PhilboBaggins
Is that an old Coopers FV? I use the same one for bulk priming/bottling! I actually like the design better than the 3 taller ones I have. I find it easier to clean and fit in different places. [biggrin]
Guest
Yep old coopers design.. Ive got 3 of them and they are by far my favorite FV's such a busy day yesterday.. Ive taken the last few weeks off brewing and have focused on pulling the whole brewery apart, cleaned it and put it back together.. it really needed it.. Pickup tube was in a state Im not proud of [annoyed] Aah... much better [lol]
PhilboBaggins
How does your pickup tube sit in the kettle Yob? Looking at putting a weldless kit in mine and was wondering how far down and at what location the tube needs to be to miss the muck. I siphon at the mo and lose about 4L to hops & break material.[crying] Will having a ball valve and pickup help with that? I would think that even with a good hard whirlpool you would still get some trub if the tube touched the bottom. Also, looks like some of your bits are brass, no corrosion problems? Guest
it sits about 1mm off the bottom.. as I use a Keggle I get a pretty nice cone of trub in the middle and only lose about 1.5-2 lt to the trub. (for a normal brew) Corrosion doesnt seem to be an issue but one of these days I will replace with stainless.. maybe [lol]
