Raider
Hi Guys As my fridge doesn't work I have been trying to cold crash my beer after it reached FG by adding as many frozen bottles as I can. It has dropped about a degree a day and is now sitting at 12c. Do you think this will help clear up my beer at all or would I be better off just bottling it now? Cheers
Smithy
I think it will, but just take longer. If it's an ale yeast then it'll most likely start to fall out once it gets down below 15C ish.
Raider
Yeah it is an ale yeast. I figured it can't hurt but wasn't sure if it was worth the effort and time. I wonder if it would help having a small desk fan in the fridge to blow around the cold air? It is a fairly big fridge and I have 2 FV's in there. Hairy
I wouldn't bother. It sounds like a lot of work just to get it to 12 degrees. Once you have left it for some extra time to clean up then just bottle it.
Guest
would not bother without the fridge working, there is a HUGE thermal mass in there and the time and effot required just kind of rules it out in my book Yob
Raider
Well I will see how these turn out and if there is no noticeable difference to my other beers I won't bother doing it again. I have a Centenarillo Ale and a Toucan Stout in there at the moment so I will see how the ale looks, guess I won't be able to tell much from the stout[lol]
