ALDI $29 Brew kit.

Recommended Posts

So I'm completely new to this.

Purchased the kit, it comes with a tub, 2 sachets of malts and yeast.

I followed all instructions, have a breather tube going into a water jug.

After 3 days the CO2 output has basically stopped.

Instructions say 7 to 10 days before bottling but I'm wondering if it's normal for this slow down of air?

Can I also add a bit of actual beer to the mix for flavour?

Any input is greatly appreciated!

Hey Granto - Welcome to the Forum.

Do not add actual beer to the brew.  It may not cause an issue.  But it also might.

Give this brew a few more days.  Although the bubbling may have basically stopped, it could be ticking along very slowly.  It is normal for the fermentation to slow down.

Does the kit include a hydrometer so you can see if the Specific Gravity has stabilised?  A stable Specific Gravity reading for at least 24 hours tells you that fermentation is complete.  Without a hydrometer, you are best to leave the brew for the recommended 7 -10 days to ensure it has finished fermenting.

Nah no hudrometer, only a stick on temp thing to keep it in range of instructions!

I appreciate the response mate, I will stay on track and keep everyone updated!

Do not add other beer, just leave what is there.

I bought the kit to see what it is and it's been in the ferment fridge for a week and a half. Mine did bubble away for about 4 days and then slowed down fast. Just give it the time it needs to clean up and all. The bubbling just indicates yeast activity but no bubbles doesn't automatically mean it's done. Patience is the name of the game. I'll bottle mine in a few days and then I'll see.
