ArveL
Hi all, I wonder what is the right way or the right formula to calculate the ABV? I have been using this formula myself for my first 6 brew. OG - FG X 0,132 (1050 - 1018 = 32 X 0,132 = 4,22 %) But this calculator says someting else: http://www.brewcraft.com.au/wa.asp?idWebPage=9616&idDetails=174 Here I get a ABV at 4,9 %. What is right? Hairy
The Brewcraft calculator includes the additional 0.5% alcohol from bottling. Add that to your formula and you get 4.72%. Its fairly close.
Guest
The formula I use is: OG - FG / 7.46 or if bottling: OG - FG / 7.46 + .5 So if you are bottling and using the figures you gave, I actually get: 1050 - 1018 / 7.46 + .5 = 4.8%
PB2
Nice formula, Bill [biggrin] Arve, in all instances, these formulas are applied to calculate the approximate percentage of alcohol. [wink]
