BakersAle
When i pour a beer into a glass that been in the fridge/freezer i get a nice head. When i pour a beer into a glass that hasnt been in the fridge/freezer there is no head. Is it because the glass is warmer that beer dosent react so well
sic_vl
Hello again Allan. I find I have the same problem. I always store a couple of beer glasses for beer only. If I poor a beer into a glass at room temperature it has very little head. I think you'll find everyone has their on theory on beer glasses. I think if you wash them in soapy water make sure they are rinsed really well with clean water.
Guest
imo that's a myth regarding washing beer glasses in soapy water. I have never had any issues and have always done it. I find it strange your beers are not getting a head with warm glasses over cold ones. Why I say this is that Co2 comes out of solution easier and quicker at warmer temperatures. Maybe the colder glasses are allowing a slower release of Co2. Therefore, making the head more compact as it settles. Whereas, gas is escaping faster with a warm glass thus making the head bubbles more sparse. As I have no idea of recipe or the procedure I am obviously only taking a guess. Hairy
I always wash my glasses in soapy water and then rinse well. I figured a dirty, greasy glass is worse than soap.

Hairy
I have never used cold glasses at home. My wife already thinks I take up too much room in the fridge & freezer with beer ingredients. Storing empty glasses in there may be the final straw.
