Kilt Lifter Ale question on yeast

Hi,

I am about to pitch the yeast for this brew. The pitching instruction step says

"Sprinkle both the Nottingham and brew can yeast then fit the lid."

Now the question is, I have the Nottingham yeast and 2 packets of brew can yeast. Do I add Both brew can yeasts?

FYI, ingredients are;

2 x 1.7kg Coopers Australian Pale Ale (1 x brew can yeast on each)
1 x 1.5kg Thomas Coopers Amber Malt Extract 1 x 1kg Coopers Dextrose
1 x 300g Midnight Wheat Malt
1 x 11g Lallemand Nottingham Dry Yeast
1 x 250g Coopers Carbonation Drops

Hi @jpd1009 I trust you are not talking about using all of the above in one brew ?? That's enough to fly you to the moon, assuming you are brewing 23 litres you would need to clarify the actual recipe(s) & ingredients.

A normal brew would be;

1 x 1.7kg Coopers Australian Pale Ale

1 x 1.5kg Thomas Coopers Amber Malt Extract

1 x 11g Lallemand Nottingham Dry Yeast

That would be enough to make a nice brew, unless you are considering a Toucan recipe.

You haven't mentioned hops but that is no concern.

Cheers

Phil

Yes, it's not clear but one can yeast pack and the Nottingham yeast should be plenty.

Looked at this recipe before, but too strong for me.

Hi Phil,

Thanks for the quick response. I am following the attached recipe.

The last dot point in step 1 reads ambiguous to me. I just need this clarified.

OK that's good, I can see now what you are doing, it is a strong Dark Ale aiming at an ABV of 8.5% - sounds good, happy brewing.
