Navigator
Hello People, I'm looking at putting down a chocolate stout this weekend, I have a 1.7kg Tin of coopers dark malt and was thinking of using this rather then the 1kg Dark dry malt, can anyone see any reason why this wouldn't work???? Cheers Chris
Aussiekraut
It should work fine but expect the ABV of the beer to be higher. LME is about 80% fermentable and 20% water IIRC, so the 1.7kg LME are equivalent to 1.36kg of DME.
Otto Von Blotto
They're actually 1.5kg tins if you're talking about the unhopped extract, which is closer to 1.2kg DME equivalent.
