Aussie in Sweden
I am brewing Evil Dog Double IPA using the new design coopers brew fermenter (no water lock). I was thinking about buying a secondary and filter, to pour out of the first to the second and hopefully to filter some of the sediment. If i do this how long and what temperature should i store the secondary at? I dont have a fridge to put it in but i have a dark room thats about 18C. Or is this all a waste of time? ben 10
Secondary does not serve any purpose at all. Buy a second FV and brew another batch in it.
Otto Von Blotto
It's a waste of time in my opinion. Plus you run the risk of filtering out too much and not having any yeast left to achieve carbonation once it's bottled.
Suicid
Hi swedish Aussie :) I'm drinking Evil Dog DIPA right now, it is excellent! You don't need secondary, just do dry hopping as they suggested - 2 days before bottling. It is drinkable right after bottling, but 2 weeks after - just delicious! Hope you enjoy it! Cheers!
