Expired Can

Hey guys

Just getting back into brewing again after a stint on the sidelines (laziness)

I have some old coopers tins of the syrup in the cupboard, I understand that it would be ideal to use "fresh tins" but if i grabbed some new yeast do you think that it would be okay to use considering its only a best before? we are talking late 2013?

Cheers

Matt

I wouldn't like to use them. I'm sure there's unlikely to be any infection problems, but they will have darkened considerably and the flavours might not be what you expect.

But I wouldn't throw them away either. If you ever start making yeast starters (like many of us do), they will still be good nutrition for the little beasties.

Welcome to the forum, Matt! smile

THE BEER TRIANGLE: Thorough Sanitation + Fresh Ingredients + Appropriate Ferment Temp' = QUALITY BEER

Discard the old brew cans.

The way I see it; when getting back into making your own beer, you want to give yourself the best chance of a good outcome first up. wink
