Hi all,

I wanted to share a recent recipe I have been working on.

The result is a really resiny, bitter and ballanced american pale ale with biterness in the 90's IBU. fantastic beer for those that love a well hopped APA

1 can coopers larger

2 kg light dry malt

125g dark chocolate malt

100g carapils

70g galaxy pellets

55g cascade pellets

wyeast 1272 american pale ale yeast

28 litre batch

primary ferment 3 weeks

bulk prime 7g/litre

method:

start your yeats and allow to sit for 2 hours

dissolve LDM +coopers can in 5 litres water boil 15 min.

Steep the grains at 70deg for 30 min

hop boil 45 min

galaxy - 30G

cascade - 15g

hop boil 15 min

galaxy - 25g

cascade - 25g

flame out

galaxy - 15g

cascade - 15g

combine all the goodnes in your fermenter and fill to 28 litres

ferment in primary for 3 weeks, this beer really need s a long primary ferment due to the resin from he huge amount of hops!

decant into bottlling bucket and add 196gm dissolved dextrose and bottle

Age for atleast 5 weeks

enjoy my favorite recipe! best served at below 3deg.

the beer will be a light color with copper tones, soft creamy head and a strong galaxy nose. This is really not a recipe for the feint hearted and will suit those that like a well hopped APA...

If 1 person makes this recipe it will make my day! and I am sure will become one of your new favorites.

Cheers!

I just have a couple of questions.

dissolve LDM +coopers can in 5 litres water boil 15 min.

hop boil 45 min

galaxy - 30G

cascade - 15g

hop boil 15 min

galaxy - 25g

cascade - 25g

flame out

galaxy - 15g

cascade - 15g

Why are you boiling the Coopers kit can?

And are you boiling the whole lot i.e. 1.7kg liquid malt + 2kg dry + grain steep liquid in only 5 litres of water?? A 5 litre boil only needs about 500g of dry malt or maybe a bit less given the grain liquid too, to achieve an optimum boil gravity of about 1040.
