c18876
Am intending to brew a batch of the "ANZAC ALE", however went to my local home brew shop and they'd never heard of the "Nelson Sauvin Hop Pellets" specified in the recipe. They even rang the Brisbane distributors of "Coopers" and he'd never heard of the either! Where do ya get 'em???[crying]
PB2
Hello Mr C18876 [roll] You could ask your HBS to ask the distriutors to get Nelson Sauvin in - it's a very interesting hop variety [tongue] Meantime, Crafbrewer stocks it.
Tricky
I can relate to your experience, Des. My local homebrew store told me there was no such thing and I had made it up when I asked for some Amarillo. [annoyed] Oooh ... Smileys [ninja] [rightful] [pouty] [love] [alien] [joyful]
Muddy Waters
I thought I had trouble with my LHBS [annoyed] What are they brewing at yours...Tea??? [lol]
Luke
Hehehe... That doesn't happen at the mighty Grain & Grape! [wink] CHA CHING!
Tricky
It's not the brewing that is the problem. I think it is the growing and the smoking that causes the problems.
Luke
Hey Tricky, I think I know that store, is it linked to hydroponic supplies?
Tricky
Unfortunately there a a few around that specialise in hydroponics(?) So like yourself, I have been buying from Grain and Grape recently. It just means that I have to plan well ahead, so that I don't need to go down to the LHBS for anything.
SteveL
Would the Anzac Ale recipe go ok with Motueka hops rather than Nelson Sauvin?
PB2
Motueka will do nicely [tongue]
SteveL
Thanks Paul... Which of course leads to another, probably silly, question: the roasted malt in the recipe, is that different than roasted barley[unsure]? If so, could I use roasted barley instead? Thanks in advance! Steve
PB2
Roasted Barley = Barley roasted to the point of catching fire. Roasted Malt = Barley gone through the malting process then roasted to the point of catching fire. As you know the malting process makes the contents of the grain sweeter. Give the Roasted Barley a go.[biggrin]
