PB2
In the first week of March Coopers will release the NEW Brewmaster range under the banner of Thomas Cooper Brewmaster Selection. A new brew joins this selection and the retained brews now display more individual character. I shed a tear for Nut Brown Ale but sales figures showed that it had to make room for a new brew...enter Irish Stout. These brews will be available at your local HomeBrew specialist store and the Coopers General Store. The Brews are: Pilsener - more overt SAAZ character, Wheat Beer - more malted wheat, IPA (India Pale Ale) - now a seriously hopped beer in the style of a traditional IPA. Irish Stout - roasted barley, in this brew, is the key ingredient in famous stouts like Guinness and Murphy's Stout. The Brewmaster Selection development work has covered the past 24 months and our Master Brewers are certainly happy with the final results. I have to admit to drinking through many a keg of excellent experimental product, last year's winter drinking of the Irish Stout prototypes was a delicious chore that no employee should have to suffer, savour, salivate over!! Anyway, off to the Perth Coopers Club night, I will respond to your questions and give you more information about the Brewmaster Selection on my return - Friday. Meantime, message-board readers are the first to know!

Matty
If the Nut Brown Ale is being taken off then I'd better hunt one down before they all disapear!! Look forward to trying the Irish Stout, have been doing brews for the winter months lately so this should be a good one to add to my stock. Cheers, Matty

PB2
Quick and easy... A can of Nut-Brown and a can of Australian Pale Ale and no other sugars, made up to 23 litres, pitch both yeast sachets.
Wort
Wicked thanks I will try that! I went to my HBS today but could not get Nut Brown so will have to order it so I went for your IPA. Is there any yeast you would use with the Pale Nuty Ale Paul? Mabe some sort of Whitelabs yeast? I have plenty of S-04 safale but I want to start liquid yeast soon. Thanks
PB2
Try an English Ale yeast.
PB2
All Home Brew Shops that care to stock the NEW Thomas Cooper Brewmaster Selection should have the full range by now. If you can't get it from your local, harass them about it. If that doesn't work, try buying on-line from our general store.
Kip
still no sign of the new Brewmaster series in my local (Wodonga) HB shop, as promised "first week March". Not surprising I suppose if they're not yet worth listing on the Coopers website under "Home Brew Concentrates".
PB2
Kip, go to the General Store on our website you'll find them there. You can order on-line if you like! If your Home Brew Store doesn't stock the Brewmaster Selection ask them to get them in. They are available if they choose to order them.
Peter in the ACT
Paul, I put down an Irish Stout brew using 500gm of light dry malt and 300 gm of dextrose (as per the recommended instructions). As I keg, would you have an idea what the %alc will be at the end of the first fermentation. Cheers Peter
PB2
Probably around 3.5%-3.7% while the intended alcohol content for Irish Stout is around 4.0%-4.2%. If you are not running a secondary ferment, it may be worth your while to bump the Light Dry Malt quantity up from 500g to 800g-1kg. or Keep the fermentables the same and reduce your total volume to around 20litres. Oliver
Hi Paul, Another yeast question: Does the Irish stout come with purely an ale yeast, or is it, too, an ale-lager blend (I'm not even going to ask if it's a pure lager yeast  )? Cheers, Oliver
PB2
Irish Stout - mmm, one of my favourites! It has a single strain, Ale yeast.
